Alastor is pursuing the Dad angle because he knows it gets under Lucifer's skin. He can't check him in power so he's checking him in the only weakness he has: his daughter. And Lucifer is frustrated because in his depression he isolated himself. But that means he ended up abandoning his daughter and allowing Alastor to step up.
@OrdemDoGraveto7 ай бұрын
In the first episode it was said that Lucifer gave free will to humans, and then was banished to Hell. So he only ever saw the BAD side of humanity. He saw the awful souls that ended up in Hell. His people are the "sinners", those that caused actual harm to others when they were alive. It has nothing to do with sex... Except in cases like Val, where he's clearly a rapist... And the Hotel is basically a re-hab. It's just that Charlie is TOO naive to actually identify the problems and solve them. In episode 2 she says "I trust everybody, so I don't know how to teach others to trust" because she simply don't understand WHY you wouldn't trust everybody.

to be fair, when they are talking on the Balcony, Lucifer mentions "strict rules" that many in Hell won't be able to abide. Vaggie looks away from Charlie, as if acknowledging what she knows already as an Angel to be true of Heaven's Rules. Adam's right hand, Lute, solidifies this more next episode.
@SrGigglesandlaughs7 ай бұрын
@@P2HTUSYPIn the pilot when the newscaster declines shaking Charlie's hands because she "doesn't touch the gays," Charlie looks at a sign of hell and responds with "and how is that working out for you?" What's the implication there? They have rules, yes but it never suggests those rules have anything to do with being gay. A focus of the opening episodes is sinners trying to figure out what might get them into heaven. They don't know the criteria, hence the guessing and skits and lack of success. They're throwing darts at the board. The next episode you mention only doubles down on the lack of knowledge. The show never suggests sexuality is the issue, even w/o knowing the creators comments.
@P2HTUSYP7 ай бұрын
@@SrGigglesandlaughs - At the very least, the pilot gives you that homophobia isn't a requirement for redemption lol. Note how different that claim is, from expressly saying "sexuality is not a criteria". These are different ideas. Separation of Sinner from Sin, so to speak. The easy pick is Earthly Biblical Interpretations used to arbitrarily "condemn" specific groups. It's unwritten, but still enforced. Now THAT idea is nodded to by Lucifer AND Sera. What the show has been about so far is improvement and growth - not finding the secret sauce to redemption. It's only when the pressure of the Extermination finally gets to Charlie that she considers reluctantly contacting her father for help. A move that required the emotional backing of everyone in the hotel, less one Radio Demon. And as for "The show never suggest(ing) sexuality is the issue" - Lute literally calls Charlie and Vaggie's love an abomination. (Adam quips something like "it's hot too" lol) But hey, that's just my opinion, dood.

I'm also a bit unsure why you'd again bring up Lute and Adam when that same episode is where we learn both Lute and Adam don't know anything, neither does the rest of the angels. While Alastor showed more power in this episode than anyone we have seen in the show so far, Lucifer was completely unfazed. He just kept talking like nothing special was happening. The power gap between the two is incalculable. Lucifer is just a decent person who doesn't use his power for petty reasons; he's one of the least evil people in the show.

So with the "Soul Contracts" it seems that they are more of a natural feature of Hell, something that is an intrinsic part that even Lucifer can control. We see a bit more of this in Helluva Boss when a very powerful demon is about to sign a contract (under duress) and is reminded by another that such a contract would be binding for eternity.

Of all of the reactors I've seen do this show, I'm surprised how deep into needing to know exact details you are about "what lands you in hell". It feels like you take the landscape of hell as an attack on what you guys value or advocate for when no point did the show say those things are hell-worthy. Watching Hellavua Boss before this kind of stopped me from dwelling on this point, since their are good and bad characters in hell shown. I think the next episode will help with your questions though

how people get in and out of hell is the central thread of this show's plot and conceit of it's thematic material.
@Zarola7 ай бұрын
@SeanTanktop You're right it's the concept of the show on how to get in or out. What I mean is that as soon as there is any non-mainstream, I feel you guys pull back a bit. The idea that BDSM, alcohol, or LGBTQ+ stuff is what landed them in hell. And if in hell, you are bad people indefinitely. I think episode 6 clarifies that not even high-ranked Angels know for sure. Which means there should be a work-around in the fine print to be found. Lucifer gave up after his banishment and seeing the bad in people in his domain. In Hellavua Boss that some horrible business man was dying he was still visited by cherubs to be taken to heaven. After years of backstabbing and greed, he was still set to go in. This episode aired 1-2 years ago. So after watching it, I didn't give much attention to the actions of persons in hell (in Hazbin) as their direct condemnation when that man was given a pass when alive. Looking into the creator's stances, I doubt that's where she is going with what takes you to hell. We have no idea what truly goes on in Heaven. If they have the same power and clashing struggles in their lower ranks, that Pride ring has or not. Does sexual desire go away once through the golden gates? I don't have any idea, but I doubt it.

One of the things to keep in mind is that Charlie is extremely sheltered. She has a rose colored view of what Heaven is like and thinks rehabilitating Sinners will save them. But, having actually _lived there_ before, Lucifer knows about the flaws Charlie is unaware of. From Lucifer's immortal POV, the human race is not getting better, because if they were, the amount of souls coming to Hell would be declining. After eons of humans misusing free will, Lucifer seems to have just given up thinking these Sinners can be anything other than degenerates. Alastor is not a fatherly anything to Charlie. He is playing up this act because Lucifer's presence intimidates him. Alastor does not want anybody influencing Charlie other than himself, and who is a greater threat to that than her own father who she has unresolved issues with? Alastor's aid comes with strings. Lucifer's would not.

The questions y'all are asking about contracts are totally valid, we haven't exactly been given enough info to know the details of how they work yet! It seems like they are incredibly binding so maybe there is a reason that even somebody like Charlie or Lucifer can't break them. At the very least we know Alastor probably could kill Valentino but regular killing isn't permanent in this realm, so he'd just come back (the spooky stories about Alastor probably aren't accurate of how it actually happened, he tends to put up a big front to make himself look more powerful than he is in my opinion) but I wonder about Charlie, if she wasn't so gentle and soft if she COULD actually kill Val permanently. I keep having to skip lengthy sections of these because it's distressing to me that Morgan has THAT little faith in an A24 show. So let me dump something on you that the showrunner has been distressed about people not getting: every homophobe we have ever met in this show is (a) in Hell and (b) among the worst of the worst. The judge of all the dead doesn't care who you have sex with or what kind of sex you have. The judge of all the dead cares how you treat them. And remember all the way back in episode 1, scene 1 we were told that Lucifer "was never allowed to see any of the good that people did with their free will, only the bad." Absolutely YES he regrets giving Lilith the apple to give to Eve. Absolutely YES he blames himself for every sin and crime of the last 10,000 years. But Morgan's absolutely right that Hazbin Hotel should have been Hazbin Rehab. But she's a palace brat. A big part of the premise of this show is that nobody wants to save sinners more than she does, but she has ZERO idea how to do that.
@florenciahoracio85177 ай бұрын
ngl, i LOVE Hazbin Hotel, but i do think Helluva Boss would be more your style and you would enjoy it better! About the morality of Charlie i think the thing is that she doesn't know what gets people into heaven, and i'm pretty sure she doesn't know why people get to hell either, so she just tries to make them do the opposite of what they do now in the hopes that would get them saved
@SeanTanktop7 ай бұрын
That tracks I guess, but they haven’t really built that up as a central question or goal in a substantive way. We saw the yarn wall but like, they never really parse out the Heaven/Hell conundrum. Like what does trusting someone have to do with atoning for sins? They almost never talk about what people have done to land them in hell and thus not really examine what they think will help them atone for those transgressions. It seems like the central push of the story and it sorta never gets examined in a meaningful way.
@florenciahoracio85177 ай бұрын
@@SeanTanktop I guess the trust exercises are kinda for that? Like, most people won't say what they're in for to someone they don't trust, Charlie is hoping they eventually open up to eachother. @alexinator-hh5fe7 ай бұрын
I liked the little rivalry between Alastor and Luci. I don't think Alastor actually sees himself as a father figure to Charlie. He was just saying that. Alastor's thing is that he always likes being the center of attention. The big dog. When Vox(TV Guy) starts giving him that attention, Alastor uses it to his advantage and doesn't pay him any attention at all to emerge victorious. When Carmilla in episode 3 doesn't pay him any attention when he claims that he's sure she's been wondering about him, he gets mildly annoyed. With Lucifer, Alastor can't be the big dog because Lucifer is several tiers of power above a mere Overlord like him. So Alastor can't beat him in power, but he can at least beat him in one aspect. He's been there. Running the hotel and sticking with Charlie and helping her run things while her dad is basically absent the entire time. So he hyperfixates on that in order to get under Lucifer's skin. He loves messing with people. But still has his own sense of pride

It's a pet peeve many people have because of experiences we've all had with others who don't pay attention. You end up having to retell half the story to them while watching it because they missed important info. You'll be watching a movie/show none have watched, but one/some aren't paying attention, doing something on their phone, leaving to get things and asking questions because they're confused. It ends up with having to pause/backtrack every time they have a question or miss something, or everyone misses out on info while distracted, leading to more questions and confusion later. My mom has always been horrible with it. People who talk during new movies/shows are sinners meant for hell. But this is a reaction channel so it should be expected. 😁

Regarding Alastor, I think Morgan is on the money with mentioning a long con, he thinks he has something to gain from sticking around and endearing himself to Charlie, but I certainly ain't buying that he's fostering fatherly feelings, not the way he looks DIRECTLY at Lucifer while punctuating the matter. Keep in mind that Lucifer is the Sin of Pride. So Alastair was doing nothing but purposely getting underneath Lucifer’s skin. Also, I really don’t think Lucifer is 100% at fault for his relationship with Charlie. The moment when Lilith takes her away from Lucifer, to me, shows that Lilith may have been pulling her away from him. Not sure as to why, but Liliths whole thing was her fierce independence and I think she was tired of dealing with Lucifer’s depression, and maybe she didn’t want her daughter to deal with it. Also, one of Lucifer’s big things about not wanting her to go to heaven is because he can’t protect her. During the song there is a scene showing all the angels around Charlie, and he pulls her away from them. He is actually a dad that wants to have a connection and to protect her, but I think the combination of his depression and other outside forces has made it hard for him. He flat out said that this was the first time she called him in years, so maybe he thought she didn’t want anything to do with him and he didn’t want to push that boundary. They just have extremely poor communication skills.

Rehabs hopefully are the same as well! It was just a thought, plus it creates a structure for the episodes to follow

@@SeanTanktopSince Charlie is still tying to figure out how to get ppl into heaven, I hope she utilizes rehab in the next season. Trust falls aren’t enough 😅

What an unbelievable characterization people are having absolutely justifiable criticisms towards them and their reactions to it are extremely sad and soft.

hahaha I think you should be allowed to talk through the songs :P

Thank you so much for the reactions, and fuck all the people who criticize the videos

Look, as much as I would prefer them to pay more attention at certain points, I find it very annoying that people are harping on them about talking through songs. First of all, its a reaction, people need to keep this in mind. Second, is this your first series watching them? Because this is how they are. If you are still around episode 5-6 and still complaining, thats a You problem, not theirs. That being said, I really hope the gag of poking at these people is done here or in the next episode. Personally, it is just getting tiring. Also, finally, we are getting to the episode that "explains" shit is so many shades of gray that NOBODY knows how anything works

No bro if by episode five or six they're still talking over important things and acting like the show isn't explaining anything that is their problem and people pointing Out that they're doing it is completely justifiable and what people should be doing what an unbelievably bad faith interpretation of what's going on how about you actually read these comments bro.
@msbkaioken1366 ай бұрын
Judging based off of your other comments, you literally are complaining about the same thing. Other people are complaining about too. Why is your tone changing in this episode? Just because it's been as many as it has been if they're still doing the exact same things people are complaining about. That is absolutely their problem. What a bizarre tone change from your previous comments.

@msbkaioken136 Because opinions can adapt. If you don't like to watch them, why bother watching them? At this point, all this anger you have is on you. I don't get people who just hate-watch. There are so many other creators to watch or things to do that would actually make feel good. But here you are.... oh well. Hopefully you got it all put of your system.

@@Excellor64 The audacity for you to say this when everything here can be applied to the people that you're defending. Why are they watching a show that they have absurd and ridiculous opinions on and are constantly getting dumped on by their community for watching it. It's insufferable and the worst reaction series I've seen potentially ever.

its crazy to me how fans think that everyone would love their show keep doing you and being honest with how you receive the show 💖

Jesus... I knew the fandom was harsh with reaction channels but seriously!? Its your reaction and your opinion! I know I dont agree with everything from you but I respect it as yours.

Appreciate it! We love a lively but respectful discourse and thank you for being apart of that!

This is just objectively, not true. The fanbase has been incredibly supportive of reaction channels. Many reaction channels have the biggest videos on their entire channel related to this show. Maybe it says something that these videos are barely able to get any support whatsoever.
