well the trailer for the season shows Theon on what looks like the Dragonstone beach collapsing to his hands and knees looking exhausted like he is out of breath, so he actually might hold on to that drift wood and paddle back to Dragonstone. There are other people with him with a row boat, so maybe someone finds him in the water and rows him back.

It was definitely the best choice that Theon could have made, Reek or not. Euron had the ship already and he has a habit of killing family members. Had he tried to fight, he would have either been killed or captured Euron really only needs one of them. Either one would have left house Greyjoy completely under Euron's control. Whilst I'm unsure what Theon will do now, I do think people are overreacting to a very obvious choice here.
