"Born Again" is even more underrated than "Headless Cross". I've always enjoyed ian Gillian's vocals on the album, no matter how much people have said it is terrible and magazines said "avoid this". It is kinda scary stuff, the laughter at the beginning of "Disturbing The Priest" is still shocking me because it starts suddenly after "Stonehenge". The title song and "Trashed" are some of the finest Sabbath songs.

It is just so original and dark like its forefathers. I'll never put Dio before Oz but I bought them too and was so into Neon Nights and OMG when I heard the opening riff from the title Track of Mob Rules I just cranked it to Max decibels just to merge with it. That was the track that identified me and helped get me kicked out of Hobart and William Smith College! I since transferred and completed but yes, it was Mob RULES! that did it! Great List Pete. There are some good songs on the first Firm album especially but Page appears to bathe his guitar in effects in an attempt to cover up the shortcomings in his play, but it didn't work, and I don't think he's been able solo well since the early 70s. Man, my top six could really go in any order depending on the day… so many killer albums from my all time favourite metal band! I have always favoured the Ozzy material, so those albums take a lot of the higher spots on my list. Here’s my ranking: 1. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973) 2. Paranoid (1970) - three of the songs are overplayed, sure, but side 2 and Planet Caravan are enough to make this one of my all time favourite albums. 3. Master Of Reality (1971) 4. Sabotage (1975) 5. Vol. 4 (1972) 6. Black Sabbath (1970) 7. Technical Ecstasy (1976) 8. Mob Rules (1981) 9. Heaven And Hell (1980) 10. 13 (2013) 11. Never Say Die! (1978) 12. Dehumanizer (1992) The rest I don’t listen to that often, but they all have some solid moments: 13. The Eternal Idol (1987) 14. Seventh Star (1986) 15. Headless Cross (1989) 16. Tyr (1990) 17. Cross Purposes (1994) 18. Born Again (1983) - sorry, I love Deep Purple, but I’ve always thought this album was a bit silly. 19. Forbidden (1995) - poor production, and I’m not a big fan of the songs themselves.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Sabbath until Heaven and Hell. To my metal listening ears in high school, I’d never heard a more perfect voice than Ronnie James Dio (rip brother). I couldn’t get enough Dio after that. I’ll say that I did eventually fall in love with the original Sabbath as the years wore on. Master of Reality is a masterpiece and my favorite from the Ozzy years. Born Again is criminally underrated.

You forgot "The Devil You Know" It is a unofficial Sabbath album with Dio from 2009. Sure, they used the name "Heaven & Hell" but it even used Henry (their mascot) in the artwork and music video of Bible Black. And ofcourse the Mob Rules line up with Apice and while on tour as heaven & hell, they played their Dio era songs. So it is a Black Sabbath album

@Claus Byrial Nielsen It is a Black Sabbath album. The members themselves said so. They were forced to go under the name Heaven and Hell because Ozzy, Sharon and all their lawyers were bitching up a storm so they had to change the name to something different. As an added bonus, calling it Heaven and Hell allowed them to better focus on the Dio era only, rather than having to play Ozzy songs too.

@@misterknightowlandco Because H & H should be recognized as their own band. I like Headless Cross a lot but it sounds NOTHING like Black Sabbath. So if u scroll through and see my ranked comment i consider the tony martin era the HEADLESS CROSS band. Dio era H&H. Plus if HEADLESS CROSS was their name those albums Probably wouldnt be out of Print. Iommi himself has said both BORN AGAIN & Seventh Star weren't supposed to be B.S. albums. It gives the band their own identity. I saw H & H Devil you know tours and i loved it. So glad they didnt play Ozzy stuff. Just like when i see Ozzy fronting i dont wanna hear Dio stuff. And Tony should play his stuff. It's just better in everyway. I still think the tony martin era would've been more successful if it was HEADLESS CROSS band. People see Sabbath, expect Sabbath then complain it sounds NOTHING like paranoid. A violation of expectations always angers people. So anyway i renamed the albums in my digital library and i very much prefer it this way. H & H especially should be recognized as their own band with their own legacy of 4 great albums.

You mentioned wearing your "Born Again" concert shirt to school on the Monday after the show. God, I used to love doing that. It was vain, but so much fun. You show up with your brand-new concert shirt on and people you barely knew would say: "You went to that show, you went, seriously?! Man, how was it?!" I'd then act cooler than I ever actually was and say: "Man, it was unreal. Page/Blackmore/Gibbons/Perry blew the roof off. It was beyond anything I've ever seen. Minds were blown to pieces."

I also love the material. “a hard road” could be a beatles song from 67, and “air dance” is incredible....I can see a band like RENAISSANCE covering it.
