@@noheamike5036 I have only seen them twice also - the "Logos" tour was the "classic" line up of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Johannes Schmoelling, and I saw them once more in the early 90's when Edgar Froese's son was in the band. I actually made two lists a couple of months ago where I analyzed which albums I put on when I'm feeling good or down in the dumps. One or two actually made both lists. In no particular order: #1 ABBA Voulez - Vous Always got time for them, especially this album! Ain't nothin' like coming home from a long train trip, freshen up and crank up some ABBA! #2 Jackson Browne - Holdout Any Jackson Browne is fine with me, but this album in particular, starting with Disco Apocalypse and featuring Call it a loan, one of his best songs. The first time I listened to it there was rain and it was a stressful day but this turned around my mood. #3 Steve Winwood - Arc of a Diver One of the best albums I've ever heard, similar style to Browne: Breezy, Rock / Pop / Soul numbers with lots of piano and good grooves and intelligent lyricism. #4 The Beatles A Hard Days Night As much as I love the later stuff oftentimes I cite this as my favourite Beatles album. You can dance it to it, walk a couple miles, do chores... #5 Iron Savior Firestar I'm rather particular when it comes to Power Metal, but the second I heard the title track I just knew this album will be a special one. Actually made it very high on my year end list, I think 3rd or 4th place. One of their best! #6 Patti Smith Group - Wave Whereas Horses is also very high on my alltime favourite albums list, it's too poetic and abstract. Radio Ethiopia is too dark, and Easter is too complex musically for counting as a feel good album. This however features some unused Blue Öyster Cult songs, of course "Frederick", "Dancing Barefoot", and one which is always a good time: "So you want to be a rock'n'roll" #7 Camel - Moonmadness Although Prog not does not always comes to mind, this Camel album in particular is just a joy to listen too. Sometimes you're not all energized but still content and this is the perfect soundtrack for that. #8 Jean Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean Breezy, but still uplifting fusion of the highest class. I don't have to say much about it. More than words, literally in this case of an instrumental album! #9 The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky Similar to Camel, whereas I might prefer their prog leanings of the earlier albums I don't mind their synthesizer pop years at all, and on this one you've got a couple fiery guitars still and just melodies to melt away to. #10 Buddy Holly - Buddy Holly Always got time for 50s Rock'n'Roll, with Buddy Holly being a secondary favourite next to Chuck Berry. Songs such as Peggy Sue, Everyday, Words of Love and Rave on are legendary for a reason. I actually discovered him via the Beatles, believe it or not.

I used to play drums in a black/heavy metal-ish band and had a whole sort of day ritual to prepare, or "psych myself up" for doing a show. It would involve listening to at least some albums that made me feel sort of primed and, well, good. One of those was always Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but the others often weren't metallic music as such but groovy, "rhythmic" albums that made me feel charged and really great about playing the drums, like Can's Ege Pamyasi and, indeed, jeff Beck's Blow by Blow. For a while there I was living with a partner who didn't at all understand why I "psyched myself up" with albums like that and I think would have preferred something more in line with the heaviness to come. Tried to explain to her that the albums made me feel good and like I needed to play music and that's why they got me in the vibe.Anyway, great list here. Going for the One is definitely Yes at their more soaring and majestic, and actall, I realy like th demo bonus versions of soe of the songs on the CD, which are quite a bit rawer in an awesome way.

I own and live every album mentioned here except for Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies (will check em out) and it's really nice to see The Wildhearts mentioned, and that album was my first time hearing them, and I paid a pretty penny for the import! I kept reading about how they were a combination of crunching, riff driven rock and roll and The Beatles, with strong melody and hooks, the type of music I'm always gravitating to. It turns out they are exactly that, a heavy metal Beatles, and hearing those songs for the first time gave me such a rush, I was floored that a band that good could actually be so hidden from the majority of rock fans. The Wildhearts remain on of my greatest musical surprises and I have snatched up nearly everything they put out, even Gingers solo stuff!!! Musical Treasure!

I remember The Polyphonic Spree being insanely uplifting in the early 2000s. I was with someone who had a daughter about 5 years old and we saw them at the V Festival. It was great and happy. Seeing the daughter raving to Chemical Brothers with glo sticks later that day was amazing.

I like this one! Without too much thinking: Journey - Evolution (that's a no brainer: Lovin touchin squeezin, one of the songs that makes me start singing as loud as I can - not very nice for the neighbours) Rush - Rush (because it starts with Yeah, ooh yeah) Arno - Idiots savants (probably no one in the US knows this one 🙂) Ivy - Apartment Life Black Sabbath - Paranoid Buffalo Tom - Let me come over AC/DC - any from Let there be Rock to Highway to Hell - I'll pick Let there be rock Therapy? - Troublegum (now there's a story to this one. In the years when I was at my ultimate low, I used to play this one really loud when I was feeling totally shit, and the aggression of the first seven songs could take away my feelings) John Coltrane - Ole Coltrane Indochine - "3" Something like that. Makes me wanna listen to these once again. Thanks!

Right off the top of my head: Anathema - Weather Systems (yeah this album is about life, death, and unrequited love; but god damn is it beautiful!) Rush - Moving Pictures (first Rush album I ever heard, and my dad showed it to me) Electromancer - Drone City (side project of guitarist Paul Wardingham. It combines his style of metal guitar with his love of 80s synth music. More Than Machine is the standout track) Boston - Boston (Come on! How can you not feel good listening to this album?!) Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient (the amazing music. The quirky humor. This album is just fun!)

May i add The Doobie Brothers 'The Captain And Me'. Great album that always gives me joy. I remember playing Long Train Running numerous times in my local pub's juke box. In the end the pub owner just took the single out to give me as he was 'sick to death' of hearing the track. Thumbs up for Steely Dan's 'The Royal Scam'...a perfect album. Even decided to raid the bank account to buy my first, and probably last, UHQR version (costing around £200 here in the U.K)

I always have things that remind me of simpler times...living in south Philly during the mid-'60s/early '70s...Greatest Hits (not my thing, at the time, yes)...TDN's GOLDEN BISCUITS, THE DOORS 13, The Guess Who's GREATEST HITS, SLY's GREATEST HITS, THE HISTORY OF ERIC CLAPTON, early Santana, Hendrix, SCHOOL'S OUT, MACHINE HEAD. Pop stuff, too. I still recall hearing "Kind Of A Drag" in the corner butcher shop, "Undun" in a hoagie store, etc. Great, simpler times!

Nice take on what is a "comfort album." I've watched those other videos and made my list. Of those the ones that fall within your "feel good" take are: (1) An Innocent Man (Billy Joel) reminds me of my teen years, MTV videos. (2) Boston (debut) is another one that reminds me so much of my teen years. From the moment I first heard "More Than a Feeling" on FM radio I knew I needed that LP. Haven't stopped listening to it. (3) New World Record (ELO). This is far more recent. Specifically during the pandemic. I was familiar with ELO but never really deep dived into their discography until the pandemic. Their amazing prog/art pop rock really helped get me through those challenging days.

I had a warped album that I had to get back to the record store & also save your receipt slip!!!! Also I got Phil Collins "Face Value" album for my birthday on May 5 of 1981 when I turned 16 years old BUT the album had scratches & bumps so my older brother took it back & got the same album & it played great without the you know what!!! Thank the engineers for remastering CD's (which I have the "Face Value" 2 CD set with bonus tracks BUT the 45 single remix version of "In The Air Tonight" is missing)!!! I also got Santana "Zebop!" on album which I also got for my birthday (later bought on remastered CD).

Some excellent picks Pete! I've never actually sat down and thought about my favorite "feel good" albums, although I have many feel good songs. Most of my favorite albums kinda go up and down and some are downright dark and depressing. So this is what I came up with off the top of my head, in no particular order: 1. The Beatles - Revolver (Obligatory and still an amazing listen today.) 2. Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy (Most of the album is pretty upbeat. The Rain Song is slower, but I find it uplifting, beautiful and just plain joyful. The only song with a dark tone is No Quarter. Maybe not "feel good", but I love it. 3. Van Halen - Women and Children First (I'm with ya 100% on this one! This was my first VH album and I played the shit out of it in the Summer of 1980. You didn't mention "In A Simple Rhyme", which is my favorite track and fits this theme perfectly.) 4. Steely Dan - Aja (Every song is winner and I never tire of hearing it.) 5. The Replacements - Let It Be (I had three Replacements albums I could have picked, but this one is probably the most fun. It's funny, it's raw, it rocks, and they even do a cool cover of Kiss' Black Diamond.) 6. Rush - Moving Pictures (My personal favorite Rush album and the songs always take me back to when I first heard them at 15.) 7. Sugar - Copper Blue (One of the best alternative rock/pop albums ever. "If I can't Change Your Mind" is perfection.) 8. Santana - Santana III (The original band at the peak of their powers, a smoking, uplifting set that never lets up.) 9. Souhat - Live At The Black Cat Lounge (I doubt anyone out there ever heard this album, but for anyone that lived in Austin in the early 90's and saw them live, it's just magical and brings back a lot of good memories for me. Maybe you had to be there. Even if you weren't, here's the next best thing. Great, funky jam band.) 10. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Damn The Torpedoes (My favorite Petty album and the deep cuts are just as strong as the hits. Timeless.)

Hey Pete. An idea for a show if you haven't done this already. Songs that give you goose bumps or chills (for whatever reason). Three songs come immediately to mind for me: River Man by Nick Drake (Basically from the opening note), The Whistler by Jethro Tull (Right when Ian sings 'But I'll be yours, forever and ever') and Riverside's Escalator Shrine (Starting at the bridge around 8:30 when Marius starts to sing again, and climaxing at 9:55 with 'We can't stop'). Moments of pure beauty.

I'm not sure if i have 10 but i certainly have 5! The police- Ghosts in the machine, Boston-Self titled album, Brian May-Last Horizon, Rush- Power Windows and Eric Clapton- Behind the Sun. These albums always warm my heart not just because of nostalgia but also the messages a lot of the music convey being uplifting, motivational and positive.

Personally would go to more mellow/pop type stuff for feel good album. Blizzard of Oz would be one hard rock album that takes me back to the beginning of really listening to the music and guitar and wanting to hear things over and over again. Led Zeppelin IV, as well.

There’s a passage in the Woody Allen classic “Manhattan” which always cheers me up and which also refers to the healing effects of music: „Why is life worth living? It's a very good question. Um... Well, There are certain things I guess that make it worthwhile. uh... Like what... okay... um... For me, uh... ooh... I would say... what, Groucho Marx, to name one thing... uh... um... and Wilie Mays... and um... the 2nd movement of the Jupiter Symphony... and um... Louis Armstrong‘s recording of Potato Head Blues…“
