Cheers folks - let us know your fave Corman flicks, and some underrated gems. See you next week for a mini-ep on Paul Leni's The Cat And The Canary from 1927 - a treat to do the odd VERY old school horror.

Going to miss Roger Corman. He was a decent and lovely man. Also a social activist in his own way. And a catalogue of great films that I grew up on. Thanks for the tribute, guys. ✌🤟

Vintage Den. These episodes are my fave. Where it's about learning from experts like Dan and Davy on film history, I always want to watch something straight away after. Never even heard of the film for next week so that'll be another learning tree.

Thanks, Pete and company, for another solid episode of The Monster's Den. I look forward to each one of these discussions. I appreciate this look at the work of the late Roger Corman. As a teenager growing up in the 1970s, his movies were often shown on "Chiller Theater" late during the weekends in Columbus, OH. I watched much of his classic Poe cycle as well as The Little Shop of Horrors. The film that stands out for me is The Raven. Featuring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Boris Karloff, it was over the top in so many ways-and it featured Jack Nicholson in an early role that was quite memorable.

Price is having a ball in it, and I love the wizard battle at the end.

Yes, seems hard to find even on DVD now. Then there's "the SOT" effect - if there's something already rare, and mentioned on a show like this as something to see/listen to....the few copies on Amazon or Discogs often vanish.

Death Race 2000 is one of the greatest B movie sci-fi classics ever made. I hated the bad remake, but I always wished they would of made a real sequel with some of the surviving stars. Saddly that time has past but one of my fav Roger Corman movies for sure!! Rest in peace Roger Corman!! 🤘😈🤘

Very interesting video. My father loves the early stuff of Roger Corman with his favorites being Wasp Woman, Little Shops Of Horror and Bucket Of Blood. The only film I liked by him, The Haunted Palace. Liked the the creepy and stormy atmosphere to it and, Vincent Price is such a good actor. And another favorite film of my father. While I didn't like Death Race 2000 or Forbidden World, but because of Roger Corman, he got so many well known actors and directors started in their career. And I have to hand to him, making over 360 films, damn that's a lot.

I loved Bridget Fonda too. A Simple Plan with Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton is another worth checking out. She married Danny Elfman and retired. You wouldn’t even recognize her today. I realize people change, especially after children, but her appearance is so drastically different, I actually wonder if she’s had some health issues.

in 1970 his second to last movie was a World War 1 drama about the Red Baron...can't remember the title....also...he made probably the first adaptation of HP Lovecraft...the Haunted Palace...sold as a Poe picture, but actually based on The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward

@@DavysFlicks Agree. Corman was willing to take risks if it was something he cared deeply about. He never shied-away. Great man. I always enjoyed his interviews(more like friendly conversations) with Joe Bob Briggs. Corman's compassion for his fellow man and love of film always came through.
