Whats the deal with the warp on the edge of krokus headhunter vinyl , there are tons of them. should have been a return for manufacture/pressing flaw ?

Thanks Pete & Martin! The first one I come to think of is Misfits by The Kinks. On side one we find excellent songs like Misfits & Rock Roll Fantasy, on side two most mediocre songs but the final song, Get Up is great. Another one for me is Uriah Heep - Magicians Birthday. Side one have mostly great songs; Sunrise, Blind Eye, Rain, Echoes In The Dark with Spider Woman as an not so good exception. Side two have the title track which I never have liked and the same with Sweet Lorraine. But it has also Tales, a very good track. But my favourite example is Bee Gees - Main Course. Side one have three hitsingles, Nights On Broadway, Jive Talkin and the marvelous Fanny Be Tender, my favourite song by them. Side two is ok bur without any standout tracks for me.

I felt the same way about Led Zeppelin III at first; listened to it once or twice (enjoyed much of Side A), then left it on the shelf. That all changed on a night occurring a few years after that; pulled it out, listened to it from top to bottom, and everything just clicked. III has since become my second favorite Zep album, and I consider the second side just as strong as the first. I'd pick Boston's Don't Look Back - love all of Side A, but things slip a bit on Side B.

In Brazil, Back in Black was released with side 1 and 2 reversed. And you had to look at the label to know where the album started (cos the back cover didn't have the songs in order). So, WEA Brazil thought the album started with Back in Black. Well, it made sense: Dirty Deeds..., Highway..., For Those... all title songs that kickstart the albums. From 1985 to 1990 it made perfect sense to me listening this way. Then CD came along (sideless and in correct order), and fucked it all up to me.

I highly recommend the remix of Rocka Rolla. I never hated the original mix, but this remix sounds vicious. It's very much like what Tony Iommi did with his remixes.

What is interesting about this topic in 2025 is that often times an act will release several singles before the album comes out. I have been a fan of the pre-released music and then hated the rest of the album. Sometimes the early releases are on the front half and then I hate all the rest of the songs. Killers Imploding the Mirage is an example of that.

Martin, don’t knock Fandango side one. I saw a stripper do her thing to that in 1975 or 1976 when I was in the AF in ND lol. Unforgettable memory. Also, I was underage. I used a civilians ID. He was 25, had long hair and a beard, I was 18, looked 12 and they let me in.

Some of my personal picks Hot Fuss - Killers. 2nd half isn't bad, but it's a FAR CRY from the 1st. Facelift - Alice in Chains. 2nd half is strong, but the 1st can rival Dirt it's so incredible. Controversy - Prince. Pretty much all of the best songs are the first 4, though Let's Work is 🔥. Annihilator - Alice in Hell. It peaks with the first 3 songs. The closer is great though. Badmotorfinger - Soundgarden. Similar feelings as Facelift. The first 4 songs is a perfect run, but it admittedly dips in quality afterwards. White Stripes - De Stijl. This album really should've been trimmed down in general. Take the first 6 tracks and keep the best 2 or 3 on side 2 and it's killer.

Rocka Rolla B side is better in my opinion: Never Satisfied is the best on the entire album, Run Of The Mill is really nice ballad, and in Dying to Meet You Rob's vocals are really great. Whilst I find the A side a bit boring, love the Winter-trilogy though, very heavy.

I always laugh when I hear Pete and Martin say that they don’t care for a song that I think is awesome. Ex: Woman From Tokyo and You Shook Me all Night Long. I love it though. It shows we all hear songs differently. As I said before, I could see Martin and I both really digging a band, but end up debating on what songs are great and what isn’t. 😂

i got rid of all my records and tapes a decade ago so can't recall much on side split - I agree with Pete on RocknRoll - for me it is about the sequencing - Time Waits for no one is my fav Stones track so I never played any after that - had it ended the album we would be talking differently -I actually like COD and breaking the rules on For Those about to Rock and prefer it to Back in Black - never a Bon Scott fan so only listen to the Brian J years - with Led Zep I would choose Presence - front loaded for me - may be there's another show in here with albums that suffer from poor sequencing of the track order?

Genesis - self-titled Rush - Grace Under Pressure With the former, Mama & Home By The Sea (both parts) are awesome. That's All is not bad. An excellent side one. On side two I love Silver Rainbow & Just A Job To Do. The rest is average and Illegal Alien is pretty poor. Still my favourite 1980s Genesis album. With the latter, side one is almost perfect, especially the first three tracks. On side two, Between The Wheels is also excellent. But the other three tracks are merely decent. However, GUP is still a top five Rush album for me.

The Beatles-Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - "A Day in the Life" (for me, their greatest song) pretty much saves the B side Van Morrison-Moondance - not bad overall either, but all the classics are basically on the first side Neil Young-Rust Never Sleeps - I just like the acoustic side much better, even though the electric side was certainly more à jour back then Yes-Relayer - "Gates of Delirium" wipes the floor with the other two songs imo Soundgarden-Badmotorfinger - one of my top 10 albums ever, so obviously I don't have huge problems with side B either, but side A is simply perfection
@tomsimmons71923 сағат бұрын
Journey-Frontiers Side one is a classic, side two is two killer rockers with three piles of dog crap sandwiched in between. A perfect example of the record company screwing up, what would have been a great album. Columbia withheld Only Solutions, Ask the Lonely, Only the Young and a song titled Liberty. They also had another song that was sung by Jonathan Cain that was left off-all of these smoked the middle three songs they put on side two.

I just about lost my sh** when Martin picked Burn... Side 2 of Burn might be SLIGHTLY weaker than side 1, but You fool no One and Mistreated are absolute classics (Martin might not like Mistreated, but it is a real classic track), and A200 is a very underrated track featuring some of Blackmore's finest soloing. I don't know, I find it slightly "below the belt" to pick on such an album when clearly there are much better examples...Anyway it's clear that by picking the 3 forefathers of Heavy Metal, Martin went for a bit of provocation, and for a Rock historian, I've always found it a bit disrespectful that he favours his own taste over the facts. Not saying he's not entitled to his opinion though...

Popoff and Pardo are at it again looking for/at albums that meet criteria of interest. Today and interesting flip side of the recent UK Connection episode. Some interesting choices by each and particular fun to watch Pete's reaction to Martin's first round choices. The Stones album of Pete's was on of the first to come to mind. Always great to spend time with Martin and Pete and episodes like this tend to cause a rethinking of the albums enjoyed. Thanks once again, gentlemen. There ya go!

Evil Walks, for me, is the best song on 'For Those' - I was disappointed when this came out (I got it as a xmas present as a kid from a great uncle - very excited and then playing it was ugh).
