I grew up in a "typical" dysfunctional family situation in the '60's and '70's, with a lot of dark things happening all the time, and I have to say that discovering the music of the Beatles was one of the bright spots that helped carry me through all of that. I'm 61 now, and still love their music--never grew tired of it. My sister feels the same way. Thanks for the video!

A Hard day's night movie changed my life when I was 12 years old. In my house there were all kinds of music, from father's folk music to brother's Metallica and Sepultura, but Beatles made me start a music journey to 60's and 70's. When I was young, so much younger than today I adored the early Beatles. During the years on the University I became a huge fan of their 1965-1970 phase, after an almost religious experience with Tomorrow never knows . My favourite albums now are Revolver and Abbey Road, it's a tie. I'm a huge Beatles fan, I can never get tired of their music.

The Beatles were actually my first love. They were the earliest music I remember as a really young kid in the mid 70s. As the 70s closed and the 80s began my attention was drawn to Punk and Metal and of course it got more extreme from there. During the 80s when I was heavily into Thrash and getting into Death Metal, The Beatles were the furthest thing from my mind. I think because I always associated them with my childhood I immaturely thought of them as basic, irrelevant, and old. That literally changed in the early 90s after I graduated from high school. There was a brief period back then when I was directionless and unemployed and I rediscovered The Beatles by going through a box of old stuff and finding my dad’s old cassette dubs from his albums, which we’d literally lost in a fire at the beginning of my senior year. All of a sudden, those tapes were precious. This is way before they started reissuing vinyl albums and being unemployed I didn’t have the cash to go out and buy the cds. When I started listening to those cassettes I was in love all over again. I can honestly say I’ve been a Beatles fan nearly my entire life even if there was a brief time in my teen years I really didn’t appreciate them as much.

Watching your rating got me thinking I own so many bands entire catalog alot of bands. So after watching this I bought the beatles studio albums 13 of them. And they are fantastic. How did they not ever make a subpar album or even a stinker song? Brilliant material. I never got into them cause I always thought its not my style. Its too poppy or whatever. But great music is great music. I wasn't sure after I got all 13 where to start so I just listened to them in order of their release. I listened to each 5 times to get a good feel for each album before moving onto the next. Thanks again Pete for what you do. Gotta go gonna listen to the beatles straight thru again. Take care.

After listening to PP's rankings, I'd disagree that every album had multiple great songs. If the band split up after their first 3 albums, they'd be talked about in the same breath as The Bay City Rollers. In other words a pop band. Thankfully they evolved from a pop band to a great band. Your appraisal of the Beatles' discography closely aligns with my own. The first several albums are fine examples of the peppy, early '60s rock and pop sound that they had distilled to near perfection by "Beatles For Sale," but it wasn't until "Rubber Soul" that the band hit their stride as mature, full-fledged musicians and craftsmen of fine art!

Here’s my ranking from my favorite band of all time (I don’t think there’s a single bad album): 13. Yellow Submarine (again, not a bad album by any means, however half of it are Beatles songs, and the other half is the George Martin film score.) 12. With The Beatles (this is another solid album, but it’s always been my least favorite early Beatles album.) 11. Please Please Me (underrated debut album that’s really strong.) 10. Beatles For Sale (even more underrated content, but I listen to this album quite a bit.) 9. A Hard Day’s Night (such a great improvement from their first two. Also, great movie.) 8. Help! (always has been my favorite early Beatles album, great movie as well.) 7. Let It Be (I know a lot of people would say this album was disappointing, however I really like it a lot.) 6. Rubber Soul (really, in my opinion, where they got interesting. Such a great album.) 5. Magical Mystery Tour (such a great album with many favorites of mine.) 4. Revolver (literally a masterpiece from start to finish, not a bad song on here.) 3. The White Album (one of my favorite, if not, my favorite double album of all time, it goes by fast for me because it’s such a classic.) 2. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (the very first album I have ever listened to, and has stuck with me ever since.) 1. Abbey Road (my favorite album of all time, it absolutely never gets old for me.)

Great stuff Pete and a great reminder to remain positive and consider others. We’ll all get through this thing together and come out stronger, more appreciate, more rested (hopefully) and more compassionate. Keep pumping out the great content and positive vibes man

I like all of them, but as I've gotten older I find the first 2 albums get the most play. I like the raw, live sound of 4 kids rocking out.

That 2nd LP is sadly very underrated. My favorite early LP and my 5th choice over all. A great collection of Soul, Rock and Roll and Pop. Seamless! Love Georges first great song- 'Don't bother me' and no weak tunes IMHO!

Pete....by far the best thing I've seen today - thank you for the positives to offset the end-of-the-world crap foisted on us by the MSM. Please keep it coming - I've got nothing but time right now. BTW...my top 4 are the same, just a slightly different order - Revolver, Rubber Soul, Sgt.Peppers, Abbey Road.

Although I love a lot of today's music, it isn't uncommon for a band to go 5 years between albums now. The Beatles did what they did, had their impact on the world and music, in these 7 incredible years of their discography. They changed everything.
@lastguyminn23244 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. In 7 years, the Beatles essentially released 25 years of groundbreaking work.

We love you too Pete! What a great idea to talk about The Beatles and P. M and The Wings these days. Just the type of music one needs to cheer up. They have always helped me in the past along with Jethro Tull. Thank you so much for this and your positive outlook in these difficult times. Cheers!

My favorite Beatles era is from the very beginning of their experiments with psychedelia with Rubber Soul and Revolver, through the height of their psych/boroque pop period: Magical Mystery Tour.

Keep up the great work Pete. It's such a nice diversion from the news of today. Your opinions are fun to listen to and bring back great memories! Thanks!

The Beatles recorded more albums in one decade then Michael Jackson, my hero, did in nearly half a century! This fact is doubly incredible when you consider the immense quality of their output. Not a bad apple in the bunch. (Revolver is my personal favorite, and in general I prefer the later, more rock n roll records.)
@jrgboy4 жыл бұрын
Their contract with EMI was for 2 albums and 3 singles a year, unheard of these days.

Your use of “solo” is not really correct, but agree otherwise
@Franz_Morhart3 жыл бұрын
@@brianfergus839 No I didn't. I wasn't including J5 records, which would bring the MJ studio albums to 25, making my statement wrong, since than he would have recorded more albums that the Beatles as a single entity, as some MJ fans draw no distinction between the two, for some reason.
