Hi Guys. Just listened to Mindwarp Chamber Supernova. Very Good Music. Love the Vocals, Very Geoff Tate Like. Musicianship is outstanding. I would recommend it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Chicago VII had two jazz sides. A great bold move for 1974. Love the jazz and pop sides!

Chicago albums had all the way up to Chicago 11 or 12. Now just a few because of space restraints. But yea get back for cheap what I might again. Chicago always loved the musicianship. The sounds of good stuff. As to Mindwarp Chamber sounds like something I need to pick up the albums. Like parts what I have heard. Like wow amazing. Thanks George Pete and Jaime.

I agree with this, considering the music George likes, I imagine he is a beast behind the kit, maybe an album with his keyboard playing friend?

Chicago VII was the first full album of theirs that I really got into (long after it was released) and it remains one of my favorites of theirs - very nostalgic. I do like "Happy Man". I feel it breaks up the album well. I am not familiar with the band Pete got, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the video, guys!

Call on Me is one of my favorite Chicago tunes, but I think it works even better live. And...it is even BETTER when performed by the Russian Chicago cover band Leonid & Friends. All their Chicago covers are fantastic!

This was a good show ,it goes to show that even Pete and George don't have every thing in there collection ,But it must be hard to find anything that they don't have

On that note I was surprised a while back that Pete not only didn't have anything by Elephant's Memory but wasn't even really familiar with who they were. I would've thought they were somewhat well known for their connection with John Lennon. Can't remember the exact episode though, I think it may have been on one of those Forgotten Favorites episodes from either earlier this year or last
@seaoftranquilityprog2 жыл бұрын
It was from nearly 2 years ago. Was never much into Lennon's solo career, so don't know any other way I would have heard of them as they are pretty obscure.
@wolf19772 жыл бұрын
@@seaoftranquilityprog I don't have that much solo Lennon either, I think his solo albums were very spotty. I believe I found out about EM by reading books about rock music history as a teenager & also since I'm a big Beatles fan they were mentioned somewhere along the way in a magazine article I think...Also a huge 70's Elton John fan & somehow the band got mentioned in some piece about Elton

Chicago is a band, in the 70s, I heard mainly on the radio, through their hits. I did hear the first 4 albums when my guitar teacher briefly lent them to me. Loved the band, yet they weren’t a band I bought the albums of because I didn’t have much money. So I knew them mostly through what was on the radio, and as the 70s went on I passionately hated the hits I heard. The first Chicago album I bought was Greatest Hits in the late 70s. I would only listen to the early songs, skip the hated later stuff. To this day I’m happy with that. I only need the first 4 releases. That’s what I want to hear. I don’t need to hear any of the stuff. On that note, On Christmas Eve I listened to disc 3 in Chicago At Carnegie Hall, which I got only a few months ago. I figured Ballet For A Girl in Buchannon has a Christmas feel to it. As I listened to the music on that disc I loved the playing I heard. Wonderful.

Once again one of my favorite lineups, two thumbs up...Chicago 7, 6 really solid tunes. I also like "Aire" a lot too, very jazzy with some nice changes & very solid guitar work. "Byblos" is very mellow but really nice & calming. Same with "Happy Man". "Mongonucleosis" is solid too, showing off those great horn arrangements. I actually don't like the more fusiony tracks as much as George does. This is their 6th studio record & more jazzy in vibe. Everything here is written by the band, and everyone contributes something. To me this is as good as 2, 3, 5 & 6, I think the band was on a very consistent run of really good albums during this stretch. Surprising given the amount of jazz here this one hit #1 in the US! To me the band in this period pretty much defines the term "jazz-rock", not really "true" fusion as I know it but with plenty of jazz infused with their pop/rock material to qualify it as such. I'd give this one (as well as the other 4 albums I listed) as 4 out of 5... As to Mindwarp Chamber, no comments on that one as it sounds like it's metal/prog metal, just not my thing...
@wolf19772 жыл бұрын
Also wanted to mention a great alternative to Chicago, the somewhat unknown band Chase. It's honestly tough to listen to them & not think of Chicago, they also have some great horn arrangements. Maybe a bit funkier. I have their self-titled, Ennea & Pure Music. They also evoke some early BS&T too. Good stuff...Might be another SoT episode idea to mine: 70's (at least relatively) unknown alternative/similar bands to those on Pete's list
