Love Ralph standing up for Primus, which is also pretty much the only band of its style that I like. I guess it kinda makes sense, with him being such a huge Macabre fan. Not that they're all that similar musically, but there's something about their overall aesthetics that definitely kinda makes sense that if you like one you'll appreciate the other to some extent. On topic, my ranking: 5 - Scream Bloody Gore. I understand its importance and I really love most of the album, but judging it as an album, it's the one from these that has the most filler tracks. 4 - Deicide. The catchiest and the one that I have more history with, but also think Day of Darkness is kind of filler. 3 - Seven Churches. I heard it a bit too late in the game for it to have its full emotional impact on me, so I'm just judging it from how good the songs are (which is still pretty damn good). 2 - Slowly We Rot. My second favorite Obituary album. Love how short and to the point every song is, and how John Tardy doesn't let lyrics get in the way. 1 - Entombed. One of my top 10 Death Metal albums of all time. The title track might be the first pure Death Metal epic track. That outro after the Phantasm theme kicks in is just amazing. And after that perfect start, it's not even downhill at all. Those CD bonus tracks were amazing too, specially Premature Autopsy.

My ranking of these debut albums: 5. Obituary- Slowly We Rot 4. Entombed- Left Hand Path 3. Death- Scream Bloody Gore 2. Deicide- Deicide 1. Possessed- Seven Churches I also wanted to add that I (slightly) prefer the second album by all of these bands (Cause of Death, Clandestine, Leprosy, Legion) apart from Possessed. Seven Churches blows away their second record Beyond the Gates. But I think all the others step up their game on the second album. I've never got the love for Left Hand Path, Clandestine is my favourite album by Entombed even without LG Petrov.

The Entombed album is great but I think I overplayed it so I don’t listen to it much anymore. The HM2 guitar tone is really amazing. The tracks that stand out to me are Left Hand Path and Supposed to Rot. I wish the rest of the album had more atmosphere and variety of tempos like the title track. The Death album is #1 for me. The song writing is just so much better than the rest of the albums. Zombie Ritual and Sacrificial are my stand out tracks. And Chris Reifert on drums, so you can’t beat that. I’ve only given one or two spins to the other albums, so I have to listen a little more. But with Obituary I know I prefer Cause of Death over Slowly We Rot.

The entire Dismember catalog up until their 2000s albums are reinventing Left Hand Path again. Unfortunately all the future releases from Entombed didn't measure up. It could have easily been a Dismember debut

Deicide and Entombed are both incredibly good band names. Obituary, and Death were generic names that 100s of bands probably used, but never copyrighted. There was. an African American Punk Rock band from the 1970s was called Death.
