# 25 Donald Fagen Fagen may not be the most technically accomplished singer in the world but his voice is an indispensable part of the Steely Dan sound and fits perfectly with their often chilled jazz-pop. After listening to his voice you know immediately which band it is (including his solo work). Best albums: Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam, Aja Best song: Kid Charlemagne # 26 Karen Carpenter # 27 Robert Plant # 28 Warren Zevon # 29 Sting # 30 Roger Hodgson # 31 Barry Hay

Superb choice, mine a few days ago. As with many artists it's his 'deep cuts' l love the most, Madman Across the Water is my favourite album with the lesser mentioned Holiday Inn and Razor Face a couple of great tracks. Possibly it's because l have heard the 'hits' so many times l don't know, but his album tracks are equally as good or better. His early albums are phenomenal and l enjoy them even more today than ever.

IMO, Obsession is the best record Michael Schenker ever made and the best UFO studio album. Every song is killer! Phil Mogg never seemed to get the recognition he deserved, so it's really cool to see you do that, Pete! Love to Love is not only my favorite UFO song, it's my favorite song, period. Mogg and Schenker may have hated each other, but they had rare chemistry as a writing team and created many masterpieces together, with Love to Love the crown jewel of UFO's catalog. I applaud your taste yet again, sir. 🤘🏼

Hey Chris, not a name I would have considered for this month, her undoubted talent and legacy notwithstanding. It was hard enough to pick 31 vocalists from the music in my collection, let alone great singers from genre's I don't listen to a lot, otherwise you end up considering names like Adele, Amy Winehouse or even, dare I say it, Celine Dion, technically one of the best singers on the planet but whose style doesn't really do it for me, unless she sings in French ( her album, "D'Eux" with French writer Jean -Jacques Goldman is brilliant). I've had to be true to the theme of favourite, rather than best as the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Good morning (afternoon, evening or night), Pete. Great selection. Personal pick today? Best known as the founding member and lead singer of a British band with several solo albums in his catalogue as well who came on the music scene in the 60s and whose band has been on tour this year, Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones. Anyone growing up in the late 60s and early 70s, had the Stones and the distinctive vocals of Mick in their ears almost non-stop if there were any nearby radios turned on. Lots of discussion about his vocals on the Stones latest album - Hackney Diamonds - but the three albums will be coming from the earlier period and are Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and It's Only Rock And Roll, But I Like It. Favorite tracks are tough and skipping over the likely Sympathy For The Devil to the Let It Bleed deep track, Monkey Man. Jagger all over the place vocally. Again, sixty years on, something must be going right. Thanks as always, Pete. Looking forward to whatever comes next

Known for being an excellent blues hard rock guitarist with a flashy but melodic style and also his band's main songwriter, but he has a superb hard rock voice as well, DAVID MENIKETTI from Y & T. Rumour has it the first time I saw the band here in the UK on the Earthshaker tour, Meniketti blew all the vocal monitors at the afternoon sound check. Fave albums. Earthshaker Mean Streak Meniketti (solo) Favourite Vocal Rescue Me from Earthshaker showing his range from balladeer to full on hard rock roar. 26 Roger Daltrey 27 Derek St Holmes 28 Klaus Meine 29 Ronnie Van Zant 30 Pat Benatar 31 Jimmy Dewar.

Day 25 A singer/songwriter who recorded some wonderful folk rock albums, his best being in the early 70's. It's Cat Stevens, whose voice adapted so well to suit the given song. This was evident for me on how he sang "where do the children play?" on the song of the same title, an edginess and a passion that was required to ask that important question. Albums....... Teaser and the Firecat (favourite). Tea for the Tillerman Catch Bull at Four Song is one rarely mentioned from Buddha and the Chocolate Box, it's Sun/C79 again a song which required powerful vocal work and it's definitely a favourite song of mine. But not a popular choice it seems!

Great pick!! Can't go wrong with UFO!! My #25: Going with a great singer who started out as one of Linda Rondstadt's band members, then left with another guy to go and form a band who became a big selling band in music. He then left that and did some great solo work as well. Talking about Don Henley. Albums: Desperado, Hotel California, End Of The Innocence Song: The Last Worthless Evening

A great choice there, Don Henley is one of my favourite's too. Love the Eagles, you mentioned Desperado, that's my favourite Eagles album and like some other bands it's their early records l like the most. I also like Don's solo album Inside Job which doesn't seem to get as many mentions as his other solo records, but there's some strong stuff on there such as Miss Ghost, Workin' It, They're Not Here, They're Not Coming and My Thanksgiving.

Hi everyone, it's pick #25 today and I've deliberately chose my main pick and today's HM as a pair, because there are several notable parallels to their careers: both were the lead singer for bands with long, multi-album histories, both have voices that can in no wise be mistaken for that of another singer and both are Canadian. What might surprise you is which is my main pock and which is my HM... Today's top 31 spot goes to... Michael Sadler of SAGA My introduction to Saga came when I heard Wind Him Up on a sampler album in the early 80s, and I instantly latched on to both Sadler's vocal and Ian Crichton's equally distinctive guitar style and have since acquired their whole studio oeuvre and quite a few live albums and side/solo projects as well. Hard to pick with 22 studio albums and hardly any real duds, so I'll go for a broad range over their career. Selected Albums (all SAGA) 1. World's Apart 1981 2. The Security of Illusion 1993 3. 20/20 2012 Highlighted Performance (almost impossible!) "Don't Be Late" from The Chapters - Live (InsideOut 2005) Of course, this means that my HM today, and I'm still not sure I should have left him off my top 31 but I have, is.... Geddy Lee, of RUSH, of course: My selected album for them, today, is "Hemispheres" - tomorrow it would probably be different!
