@@seaoftranquilityprog Pete you should take the time to check out their 1970 debut, it's psychedelic - progressive rock that could be comparable to early Jethro Tull. They've changed over the years into more of a pop band. They have 13 albums out in the last 40 yrs.

If I'm not mistaken, Moxy relocated to Texas because of their popularity here, similar to Trapeze and the Nuge. Was supposed to see Moxy, third on the bill with Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Legs Diamond and Randy Jackson of Zebra, this past May. Luckily the show has been rescheduled and not cancelled.

Flowing Streams of Hearty Hard Rockin' Thanks for nailing down and lifting up Moxy! Been a fave of mine since I picked up Moxy "II" for .49 cents in 1977, always a stalwart to pull off the physical or digital shelves. It's always been about "II" and "Ridin' High" for me, the faved nuances of the first album have always eluded me and settled into 'solid, nice but not terribly crucial listen' but I get it and like it. "Under the Lights" has plodding, uninspired production, no question, but three of its songs stand proud and tall in their catalog. I have to go back to "V", didn't do much for me upon its release but it's time for a re-visit. You guys(Martin 'n Pete) are flat-out legends...and Pete, as a guy who worked in power pop for more than 20 years(Not Lame Recordings), if yr into power pop, take it respectfully from me: Sweeney Todd are worthy to kick the tires on, solid mid-70s stabs at what turned out to be nice foreshadowings for Nick Gilder's early solo career. However, what matters is the fact that Gilder's first three solo albums are absolute stellar and legendary efforts in the power pop world(and his guitarist was something very special).

Will be listening to the two highest ranked albums. Thankfully they do have them on KZbin music. Pete, might there be interesting stories behind the reasons for some groups that don't have their entire catalogue up on music sites? For example Black Sabbath, if you want to listen to all the Tony Martin era albums, you better have them on CD. Or Judas Priest, neither the first two albums, nor the Ripper albums are available. Is it just contractual and/or licensing issues or might there be something else behind it?
@seaoftranquilityprog4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I know just about as much as you as to why some albums aren't available. My guess is the artists don't want them up there as it's just not a good revenue stream for them, especially when it comes to spotify, and those that go out of their way to keep them off youtube is they don't want them available for free.

He did 6 of the 8 guitar solos on the debut album. Their guitar player, Earl Johnson, got into an argument with the producer and was kicked out of the studio after recording two solos. The band's manager knew Bolin and he happened to be in the area and was asked to come in and help finish the record. So, never officially a member.

Saw Moxy open for Triumph in 1978 in Vancouver, i said to a friend that is not Buzz singing, he left before then, and or different drummer, and the bassist left as well i think? Was not that great a concert overall. Buzz Shearman was very close to Steve Marriott in singing style very bluesy. Mike Reno or Mike Rynoski was not a great singer for this band. he does suit Loverboy. Their Debut was their best by far. Ridin High was close.Even in Canada they only played Can't You See i'm a star, and Take it or leave it, on FM radio.
