Ive been following Demon since their first album back in 1980. This is their best album since Taking the world by storm. The first two albums Night of the Demon and The Unexpected Guest are pure melodic hardrock and they are classic albums today. The next two The Plauge and British Standard Aproved are progalbums in the spirit of Pink Floyd. They are realy good! The fifth album Heart of our Time is an AOR album and it is great. On the following two Breakout and Taking the World by Storm they are back on the melodic hardrock track again. Those two are fantastic. After that all the albums have been melodic hardrock, they are pretty solid but not great, until Invicible. It is so great. I mean Saxon Priest, Accept end Demon all put out awsome albums 2024. How is it possible? Thank you legends!!!

Great to hear and see so many NWOBHM bands still going strong and releasing new albums. This year has seen new releases from Saxon, Praying Mantis and a live album from Tygers of Pan Tang now a new release from Demon. Another must have, thanks for the review Pete.

Thank you so much for supporting DEMON! They have been a favorite band of mine for years, and this is definitely their best output since "Hold on to the dream", which I would recommend you to listen to next, if you don´t know their middle period. And then backwards through their catalogue. DEMONs albums from the 80s up to 1991 are all superb, they had great songwriters during that time. First Mal Spooner, then Steve Watts. And Dave´s vocals were untouchable back then. He is still good, but in the 80s he was mindblowing. 🤘

Hi Pete, cool to have Demon on SoT again. I fully agree this is a terrific album i even call it their best since 1991 Hold on to the Dream. Thx,

I hadn't heard of these guys before they came up on the UK Connection, but the multiple comparisons to Magnum there and now will certainly lead me to give this a listen, cheers Pete!

First heard of Demon back in 1982 after seeing a poster for their Unexpected Guest album and was pleasantly surprised with their sound after expecting to hear hell, fire and brimstone sound with guterall vocals. Back then fronted by Dave and the late Mal Spooner they have produced some great albums through the years and this latest album is no exception.

A bit beside the point, but I think that One Small Step from Heart of Our Time is one of the best songs ever, especially lyrically. Haven't heard the latest one yet, but will, of course.

Paul Hume fronted a band called Lawless . They did a song called “ Seven Year Itch “ ….when you hear it you can’t get it out of your head …..brilliant . Love Demon , listened to them from their first album . Great review Pete 👍

Like the vocals staring the second track and listened to some other excerpts as well. On the full listening list to see what grabs attention. Many thanks, Pete, for yet another episode of new product reviews.

Demon is sooooo freakin' underrated band with great great albums... Not a mediocre album. Their music catalogue is substantial and melodic and with a big variety and styles. Life is not fair always. They should have been big...

...these guys "pissed me off" back in the day...the name of the band did NOT go along with the music they played...I was expecting smokin' early 80s metal, and they were a melodic hard rock band...time has tempered my anguish and I have come to really like the band. I had no idea they were still around. The couple of songs I played from this one are really stellar.

Night of the Demon and the Unexpected Guest from the early 80ies are really good albums. Bud this mainstream sound its not so my thing as all other albums from Demon. And Magnum play in some higher leagues than Demon for me. 6/10
