I did this 33 years ago. Before the cruise ships, before the daily excursions out to the place. The flight was incredible. When we got there, there were only a few sailboats in the small bay. I do not remember a single other person, on the island. At the time it was listed as the most "inaccessible", national historic site in the country. We snorkeled on the south side of the island. I and my wife were all by ourselves. The snorkeling, was incredible. I had a "throwaway", underwater camera, and got some photos of small fish that were gorgeous. The island had been used as coaling station in the late 19th century. It was the last sop of the battleship main, before it got to Cuba. As I snorkeled out off the beach heading east, all of a sudden the seabed seemed to drop out. They had dug out a deep trench for coaling (I believe there were still chunks of coal on the seabed)..and then the fish changed. From small less then 1 foot long fish..they went up to 4 to 6 feet long, and some sharks. I turned around. The seashells were incredible, but of course national park..we left them there. Best memory of that trip to Key West, September 1988.

I did this a couple of months ago, expensive but just stunning. wish the trip would have been longer. the water was the best I have ever been in. the fort was incredible. Laying on a white sand beach staring at the many colors of the water and then turning to your right and seeing the fort was so sureal.

My dad worked as a pilot for Pan Am back when they used actual Seaplanes. A Seaplane could only land and take off from water that is why they called them Seaplanes or flying boats. An amphibious plane is what you were in.

It was great...the flight over the the gulf....first time on a seaplane...the fort island is unique..history, architecture, nature & fauna. Relaxing time to lay down on the beach..snorkel or just sunbath. For sure a gem not many north americans know!!

Absolutely beautiful. I have a friend, I met when I was 13, she has been my inspiration, basically my entire life, her name is Gloria. Gloria is now 82 and I'm 60, I just have to get her here to the Keys to make this flight. Loving the Dry Tortugas. Need to get my Son, up in the air as well. Most amazing flight I ever had was back in the 80's over the Florida Keys, headed inland, but flew over the Islands and the sail boats, something you never forget. I just need to share this experience with my loved ones. How about shooting me a price? Best video, ever !! All excited, can't wait. I subscribed.
