I plan to. Thank you for your kind words, especially on one of my first ever videos where I was still learning how to edit. It means a lot.

Yep! They don't last very long but it's incredible to see and could potentially be a very useful bit of knowledge.

Thank you! This is one of the first videos I ever edited together and had no ideas what I was doing, so I often look back and cringe. Seeing people still enjoying it though makes me happy.

Great! I'm currently working on developing a multi-UAV search strategy for finding lost person in wilderness areas for my PhD resarch. Your video has been really helpful! Give me some insights into how real drones works to search and locate the lost person.

Do law enforcement ever outsource drone SAR to civilians? Let's say the department doesn't have the capability but hires a civilian company to assist.
@NorthWindAerial10 күн бұрын
In my experience, no. They prefer to keep everything in house. I only fly for LE if specifically requested as part of my SAR team.

this is both awesome and silly. maybe consider it good training for all the rescue team for when a not drunk child is lost or abducted. poor drunk guy went camping to get away, got drunk to further his adventure and left the came site to really disappear and here comes big brother with their sweet new tech to save him from him self. if he was young and healthy it would have made for a fun camp story with out the police involvement, since they rescued him its now even more funny and that dude will likely not wonder away from the camp site again just to not hear a bunch of shit from his friends but in all seriousness the assets and training that make this possible are so bad ass. im waiting on my parts as i am building a thermal drone. i plan on using it for all kinds of nerdy stuff mostly watching coyotes, but if asked i will certainly

Wandering away from camp was one thing, passing out in the ditch was another 😅 What sort of drone are you building? I'd love to get into building custom drones and have at least one video planned on my best (dumbest) drone ideas, but I'm not anywhere near smart enough to build em myself.

@@NorthWindAerial im not smart but i nerd out on what ever i am currently into and apparently its drones atm for the past month i have been studying the tech, the pros and cons, the performance vs the cost. oh i also studied the laws/rules a bit too. i was just about to drop 4k$ on a thermal drone, not dji, but a similar quality, but then i got to thinking of how i can build one my self. components are cheap and i figured i would start with cheap and basic stuff and just go up from there. i bought a caddx infra camera about $160 that sees in the dark better than all my other $500 nv cameras and goggles, so much so that i was actualy able to wire the camera directly to the fpv googles and velcro the camera to it and now i have a kick ass diy pair of nv googles that are better than the stuff i bought. then i rolled the dice on some chinese 256x192 thermal camera with cvbs video output $220. i got a unit that is somewhat zoomed in, rolled the dice on this concept too and i got luckly on both counts, its going to be zoomed in a bit for the drone and i wired it directly to my fpv googles and it works great but there is a bit of flicker but it could be my shady electral joints as i only used electrical tape as this was a temp setup to test stuff then i bought a cheap analog fpv goggle for about $70. the spectra drone will send its own video feed to the controller then you connect your phone to the controller, but i wanted nv and thermal on the googles so i will basicaly have two video feeds coming from the drone, one that is oem and the one i added. who knows maybe they will interfere with each other? then i bought a cheap but powerful analog vtx, this is what sends the camera video back to the receiver (goggles, in this case) maybe i suspect this may have a 5 to 10 miles range, which is way more than i need to stay legal. i plan on powering this camera and vtx gear with a rechargeble 9v battery, yes the old square type, to i dont have to balance charge cells in the field, i can just cc/cv charge them with 5v battery bank thing step up to 9v with a tiny step up device. i plan on using sticky velco pads to stick this all onto the top of the drone, i have several of them, but the one i want this to work on may not even work. its a spectra mini 4k and it wont be here until thursday with out the giant storm coming tommorrow the drone is tiny so i dont know if it can handle the weight, if it can i will likely need to mod the battery a bit to get more fly time but if it cant handle the weight i will get something about twice as big and i have that unit already picked out. i have been looking for others that have done what i am going to do but i cant find any information on this topic. it seems like rtf drones are left alone and custom builds are 100% custom. i say why not get the best of both worlds. to be honest i got my first drone about 12 years ago, but i havent touched them in close to 10 years now and the tech has gotten so much better and cheaper also i have 3 thermal cameras and i often hike and take at least one of them with me, so i am fairly acclimated to their pros and cons. i figure i will continue to buy stuff and play, its all pretty cheap, and there is a fair amount of videos of how this stuff works i think idealy i would buy a custom frame that folds down like dji, that is one of the main reasons i went with spectra as its pretty much a dji and folds down, has great range out of the box and good battery, and folds up and tucks away into its case and is so small and light, i wont even notice the weight while carrying as i do a lot of rucking too i had no idea if any of this stuff would work but so far it does, also for now i am putting it all together on an old school phamtom 4 drone just to get it all up and running and since i am using velcro i can just take the stuff off and transplant different peices to different drones but the goal is good day light video at long range and max height, good nvir to understand terrain, and good thermal too see warm bodies i dont yet know how i am going to switch between nvir and thermal, i may just have to put a manual switch on the drone and fly it back to me to make the change at first. but i see that some drones will let you control lets from the transmitter, and i also see there are relays that can be actuated with light sensors, so maybe i will do that? also i want zoom on the nvir and thermal but i dont see that happening soon, thats probably going to be very expensive same with higher resolution cheapest thermal camera i see that can do 640x what ever is like $700. anyways im bored so you got a book from me and maybe there is some useful info for ya
