Search For Missing: Sonar Scanning Holston River Below Fort Patrick Henry Dam

This was the week following the Linville Falls search, where Vern and I took a boat onto the rapid-flowing Holston River below the Fort Patrick Henry Dam. We loaded the boat with sonar and video search equipment and headed downstream to where community rumors indicate Layla Santanello may have been placed into the river. This was also a potential search location for Summer Wells.

Oh wow. @36:05 on sonar, I swear I saw a skeleton near or in the underwater dam hole. I've also heard it be called a glory hole before too. The skeleton looking thing looks like possible of a dislocated shoulder. It just looks like the skeleton is stuck dangling away imo. When I saw it, it reminded me of my 2D pregnancy sonograms years ago. Hmmm @Ryanfindstruth, what do you see there?

Unfortunately, unlike our next video, I couldn't display the downloaded sonar footage so the only view here was with a lot of sun glare. Vern had a pretty good view of the entire area and didn't see any remains, except we couldn't get close enough to the drain grate to see that closely.

@@shellypendergrass883 Unfortunately it sounds different. This one in this video is a hissing sound like steam. The audio in that video I heard there was an intermittent whining sound about 30 seconds on and off. I still haven't been able to find any location where I've heard that sound yet. Fort Patrick Henry Dam was the closest.

I do believe it with all my heart. What I'm not sure of is how long it'll take and what the end will look like - if it'll be finally coming across remains, getting a tip to authorities that leads to an arrest, or something else. But yes, I believe Summer's case will be solved and I am hopeful that our work will contribute to that in some way.

If caught somewhere but Vern believes the current was too strong there for remains to stay in one place for very long. With the trees all stripped there's not much there left to hang up any remains.
