I live in NY I don’t ride the train to the city because I’m so afraid. I seen a woman chain herself to the beam until the train fully stopped and she unlocked herself and got on the train. My dad fell asleep on the train in 1979 and someone hit him in the face with a hammer and broke his jaw. So it’s been bad here it’s just getting really worse these days.

When you’ve had a long day at work, sometimes, you might fall asleep. It happens all the time. I, myself, have fallen asleep on my way home from work from being so tired. It’s not against the law/rules. MTA cannot control people falling asleep during their train commute. How are they supposed to stop folks from falling asleep…. I work in homeless services myself, over here in Seattle. My heart goes out to my colleagues over there, to their families, and everyone hurt by this. That young man died serving his community, serving people who are most in need. There are few ways to go more honorable than that. And to the scumbag that did it: I hope you know that you haven't just hurt one person. You've hurt the entire community. And for what? What could possibly be worth taking out an innocent person just trying to help others?

​@@queenmisanthrope I hear you on that. There are some people that definitely can be entitled, even in the shelters. Never had anyone get violent over that, but have definitely had people rant and rave at me. I keep professional, as best I can, and just let them run their mouth. At least to a point. I did one time tell a guy that if he is so bothered here, he can always find another place to go. This isn't a prison. We try to make things decently comfortable for people, but you can only do so much. This is a shelter. Not a five star resort. I remember this one ranter told me he's been kicked out of every shelter he's ever been to, that every shelter staff is so mean, etc. I didn't say it, but I was thinking "and what is the common denominator?". He didn't last long. Ended up getting kicked out for behavioral reasons. Most clients are thankful that anything exists and quite polite with staff. It's just the few with an attitude. Sadly, there are some who take it beyond words and do assault staff. It's part of why I'm grateful my current shelter has actual security guards and a fence to keep unwanted trespassers out.
