I enjoyed this conversation. As someone who currently resides in Abuja and have also lived in Lagos, I will choose Abuja any day. I should have been your tour guide in Abuja so that you can discover some really beautiful places around the Buj (yeah that’s what we call Abuja 😊). The quality of life in Abuja is way better than Lagos and at the end of the day, that is important to me. The major edge Lagos has over Abuja is that it is Nigeria’s commercial nerve center and the heart of Nigeria’s entertainment. But Abuja is evolving to be more than just diplomatic and government opportunities. I could go on and on about the comparisons. But great video guys! 👍🏽

So western is good roads, sidewalks and greenery? So what to you is being "African" as a 21st century city? Potholes, disorganised sprawl and open gutters??? The very concept of a modern city is western to be honest. Either way all human beings western or not require basic things to live a sane existence. Lagos actually has more skyscrapers and more modern buildings than Abuja, just without the orderliness of proper town planning.

Lagos and Abuja is for people looking to work, if you have a decent means of living l actually prefer Enugu, calabar or jos/plateau state to lagos and Abuja. The alternative to lagos traffic is to move the lnternation airport to Abeokuta/ogun state and move the seaport to warri or bayelsa or ondo state.
@sylviasworld9397
@sylviasworld9397 3 жыл бұрын
Abuja was planned and is still finding it's identity but it had the right start. The sanity in ABJ as a place to live is something else in the Nigerian context. Lagos, I can only visit, but to live.....no thanks, although ABJ should borrow some aspects from Lagos, like the community feel and readily available street food lol. Even the temperament of all three guys shows which one is Lagos through and through. Oga wahala, by force lol. Common buying of face mask, he vex small, meanwhile the boy selling was just cool. Uncle, he offered the pack because there was a car full of people. Ah Ah now ! Lagos pikin, everything na fight? Lool Yes, Lagos may have grown organically but it's prominence was kind of forced as a place people 'had to' go to from other regions to 'make it' as it was the former capital and other places/cities were not developed in favour of Lagos, especially when considering sea ports, so in reality Lagos as a commercial and former country capital was in part 'organically orchestrated' by successive governments.

@@napoleonokugbe2406 Abuja needs a community feel imho and that does not mean noise. It simply means knowing your neighbors and being friendly and courteous to people you live around. I have been in Abuja since January. I'm from London and have lived in Australia and Paris plus Texas and NY. Community spirit did not mean noise or lack of calm in any of those places. @@tosinojo7310 You are right Bro. No i am not putting down Lagos to bring up Abuja. I am a Southerner. I am originally from Edo State despite being born and raised in Abuja. I would have been born in Lagos because my parents were in Lagos before moving to Abuja. I have my reason for saying Lagos is trash and it is solely because of the craziness of the city. In Lagos, everything seems to be a struggle especially moving from one place to another which I detest with passion. Other than that, Lagos is very cool and it has lot of many things lacking in Abuja.

My posts address the individual that makes a comment. In this particular case, I was addressing the Ghanaian making the post, I do my research before saying anything. But some hypocritical Africans come on here and make Negative statements about Nigeria not knowing the context on things, this is where Nigerians like myself step in to give the full & balanced context about that situation. Nigeria is livable for Nigerians and the many Lebanese, Europeans, Indians & Chinese currently living there, ideas they are bouncing is how to improve Nigeria for the better for Everyone. @@sylviasworld9397 That's not true. Abuja is a class act. It's close to a western city in development and culture and I live in the US. That's why the people who returned from the west can only live in Abuja or Lagos Island everywhere else is far underdeveloped and disorganized. .

@@afrikanheritage99 Its true actually, Abuja lacks character currently because it needs to grow into itself. I am born and raised in London, a city that is brimming with character. Even some place in America, like Texas also lacks character in my personal opinion. I'm visiting London right now but moved to Abuja since Jan 2021 so will return at the end of October. I have no plan to move back to the UK permanently, but I know the best of Abuja as a city is loading. I don't want ABJ to end up like Lagos in any shape or form though lol.

Ppl forget that Abuja is still in the North. Regardless of whether it's North Central, NE, or NW, that gra gra mentality of many southerners is irksome to many. The vibe overall is chill. No different from say comparing new York to Texas

Abuja is physically in the centre if Nigeria though, but I get your point. Not every southerner likes gra gra. In fact outside of Lagos, PH, Aba etc Nigerians are actually calm. Lagos is where people go to hustle, even the northerners that are there turn gra gra by influence.
