Hey Joe, you mention/question your experience on dirt, I think experience is more accurately measured by klms. ridden and nights spent out under the stars. From this side of the camera/screen I'd say you have as much or more than many others who may have more years under their belt but pale into insignificants compared with what you do !! And you bring it to our armchairs for our entertainment. I've ridden heaps pf k's and many years, your up there brother. Thanks for all your efforts.

So beautiful through the high country Joe and a fitting post for Australia Day 🇦🇺 I always find it funny how us Aussies pronounce the name of Kosciuszko as "Koz-ee-oss-koh", where as, it was named by a Polish explorer, Paweł Strzelecki, and is actually pronounced "Koz-ush-koh". I always get looks when ordering a Kosciuszko Pale Ale, with the correct pronunciation. The bar tender usually looks at me cockeyed.

I enjoy watching your videos. The only piece of advice I can give any rider on any road that doesn't have a marked centre line is to ALWAYS keep left and ALWAYS assume someone is coming around the next blind corner way too fast and on the wrong side of the road.
@freewayproject
@freewayproject 4 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, glad you are enjoying the series. Yes I am super cautious around corners, we have worked out the wide angle of the camera does distort the image a lot, and it seems I am further right, also it doesn't see as far ahead as you do with your eyes. when I saw the footage I was like it looks like I am way right on blind corners but when I was riding it I never was, occasionally I would be on the right if the left side was damaged, but only if I could see well into the distance.

I rode the Barry Way last October on my way to the Motogp and then onwards for a lap of Tassie. The NSW section had huge pot holes and deep corrugations. We camped next to the Snowy River, and my mates wanted to camp on the flats next to the river, I suggested it might not be a great idea should the river rise overnight. We ended up camping above the banks. Next morning the area we thought we might camp was about half a meter underwater. I guess they released water from one of the hydro dams overnight. Another great video. Safe travels.

I love to see the Australian channels and I have seen MAD TV, Adam Riemann and plenty others and they always portray Australia as a rugged desert country with nothing but Simpson desert. But your channel has shown a complete different side of Australia which as an Indian is quite refreshing to see. Coupled with amazing video editing and a dose of history here and there, I believe yours is the best channel I have enjoyed so far. Keep doing what you are doing and enjoy while doing so. Shame you missed the detour to McKillops Bridge but what better excuse to go back👍. We're heading back down in a month, can't wait. Welcome to NSW where you have to pay to camp and the roads are crap. The problem being that most people book a site online on the off chance they might feel like going away then don't bother so most sites are empty. I just pull up and camp regardless and have never had a problem.

@@freewayproject That's my experience with them Joe. Either that or they pull up to their prebooked site too early in the day and keep going which is another reason why I never book. @freewayproject
@freewayproject 4 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, I am glad you are still enjoying the series. That sounds like a fun trip. All action camera don't have the best image because of there size, but I am using the DJI Ozmo action, they have been reliable and compared to other action cameras the image is good. I have only ever had issues with GoPro's personally, I am sure they must work for some people, but they have always done things like stopped recoding, the controls freezing, then not turn off, then not stop recording which meant having to pull the battery out to try reset it. I had to grab one as a spare as it was the only action camera in the location I was in, I bought it then it wouldn't change when I tested it in front of the shop, so went back into the store to get the only other one. Use it for 3 days then kept it as a back up, the next time I went to charge it up it wouldn't charge. There is the new Insta360 Ace Pro but I have never used it. Hope that helps.

The black version which is the current one did the second series and this current one so has been on the back of the bike for 26,000km. again no issue work well. The black one does seem to last longer (they made changes from the first model) SO they handle the abuse I dish out on them dropping the bike, all the corrugated roads, heat 48 degrees cold -2 degrees. So yer I am happy with them.

@freewayproject
@freewayproject 4 ай бұрын
Yes like most of the National Parks in NSW, you need to go online and book, it works great for all the people who plan out there trips. Not so great when you have no plan and look for a campsite at the end of the day, as in a lot of the areas you can't get a signal to get online. All good, just one of the things you have to take into consideration when traveling like this.
@freewayproject

As appose to Tasmania where most spots are free, if they do happen to have a fee (like $6) there is normally a drop box at those spots where you can leave the payment in an envelop. Old school but works well when you don't have a travel plan.

That is awesome, new bike! I got the Rhinowalker ones the 48L (2x24L) they are the cheapest I could find but I used there tank bag and there 30L bag and I have had no issues with them so I thought I would give it a crack. So far all good. I mentioned in one video that the hard panniers are great if you are traveling a lot of longer distances as they hold more and if you are going through more towns etc as you can lock them and leave your stuff on the bike. The softs are great if you are going off road more, they are lighter. but both work for either as I have done. hope that helps rhinowalk.com/collections/moto-bag/products/waterproof-motorcycle-pannier-side-bag-pair?variant=42457462702268

One thing that I have noticed, though: I believe that you have changed the filters or saturation adjustment of your videos, or is it just the season that you're riding in??? Thanks mate, i hope you are still enjoying the series. I haven't mate any changes, so not sure if it is the time of year, the light in summer compared to winter, or i have done something to the camera. I do know that action camera struggle and the images washout when in lower light or bad light.

Hey again Joe, Just saw your most recent video and the color seems to be similar to your first series now. Changed anything? Your photography is always with vibrant colors. It's the videos that changed to my eyes. But as I say Dirt Tracks video seems to be back on the mark. May be my aging eyes! LOL! Not a GREAT thing for my morale, watching your videos. It's still cold and snowy here in Canada so watching is an exercise in patience. Can't wait to get the Himi out on the road again! Stay safe and thanks again for sharing your adventures! @@freewayproject

Howay man, I read the Himalayan is an air cooled engine so have you ever find any problems when riding in hot conditions?

Hi mate, not issue with the bike in hot temperatures, the first episode of this series (series 3) I was in 48°C and had no issue. I have also ridden in a desert going l very slow and that was around 43°C - 44°C. If you were in hot conditions it would be advisable to keep an eye on the oil level as it might burn more, but I did not have an issue. hope that helps

What headlight are you using, it seems you don't mount extra lights on it.

Hi mate, I bought my bike second hand and it already had the LED headlight on when I bought it. I found the headlight on eBay, this is the one www.ebay.com.au/itm/375160638811?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20230811123856%26meid%3Df07af58c9e6e4badbad3f7ce5267e478%26pid%3D101770%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D375160638811%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4375194%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p4375194.c101770.m146925&_trkparms=parentrq%3A5acf654a18d0ab3a1701eb91fffd14aa%7Cpageci%3A58f40bb6-bf7d-11ee-b3b5-ca70408befdb%7Ciid%3A1%7Cvlpname%3Avlp_homepage

non existence in places. 2 options you can get offline maps with one of the apps like Gaia GPS or you can actually use google maps, once you put in a destination as long as you don't need to change the destination it will keep working from the gps signal to the phone even with out a connection, you won't get detailed maps but enough to navigate. Also I think I have heard you can download maps for offline use on google maps but I have never tried it.
