Searching for God Beyond Religion

Even when I was 13 years old, the world didn't make sense to me. Parents and teachers were asking what I wanted to be when I grew up. I had observed that people worked hard all their lives and then died, leaving everything behind. Why would I devote my life to something so meaningless?
Instead, I began to search for the meaning and purpose of life. Why are we here, where did we come from and who or what is God? That inquiry led me on a long search into becoming a monk, being brainwashed, emerging from that, becoming an entrepreneur, and then a professional therapist.
The God of religion made no sense to me, atheism made no sense either and spiritual people seemed really confused. Finally, I learned to quiet my mind, listen to my inner voice, ask questions and listen with an open heart. At that point, all the confusion cleared up. I learned so many amazing things that I would like to share with you. I hope this video gives you a sense of what is possible for even a confused, lost, soul like myself.

Thanks 🙏🏾 Opening our eyes “to the Universe around us” is so important. I was recently watching “Our Planet” with David Attenborough on Netflix and it became so apparent how blind we have been, how our failure to see and honor the creation is leading us to a mass scale extinction. The planet will survive, God will exist, with our without us. Yet even now if we change our ways and honor each other and Mother Nature as manifestations of the divine or God, then perhaps we can reverse the tide.

Beautiful my friend. I'm feeling the world makes less sense to me now, at 54, than it did at 13. :-D And God.. everything and nothing. The parts of the atom, and the space in between. Made me think of Einstein's last days. His nurse wheeled him to the hospital window to admire the view of the little garden from the window. “Professor Einstein, do you think God made the garden?” He replied, “Yes, God is both the gardener and the garden” to which the nurse replied ”Oh I’d not thought of it that way.” Einstein replied, “Yes, and I’ve spent my whole life just trying to catch a glimpse of him at his work.” I think most of us want to catch that glimpse, that "experience" as you say. Great video, Rohit. I love the idea that God is everywhere and is everything and at the same time is nothing, but that the relationship is personal, one you must experience.

Thanks Mariah. What I have observed is that people want to put God in a box of their subjective beliefs. Our belief that God exists or doesn’t exist doesn’t constitute a fact. To really know something one must experience it. To experience God one might want to step away from the known and enter the unknown. Try slowing down, being present and tuning in to your body or to nature. You will feel the energy of God everywhere. That which is everywhere can also be somewhere. It can personify itself and relate to us as we are. We do not need to be worthy or good. We are loved endlessly by that which we came from: God. We are all starved for that love and looking for handouts from others while God awaits our desire to reconnect and shower us with abundant love.
