I like your prospecting humility. I’m learning right along with you. A new neighbor just built her house and they had to drill a bunch of rock out of the way that is all banded in red and yellow with some red “eyes” (which resemble tree knots). She has pieces of it laying around everywhere and every time I go over there it catches my attention. I think some exploration of her woods is in order. 😊

Dude. The new camera, well.. rocks. The extreme close shots of pyrites at 19:00 ish seen on the 62 inch lounge TV just awesome. You've got a new subscriber, from Aus ( who hopes in the last year you figured out to plan your trips to allow both photo & prospect time. After all one's going to pay for the other! )

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. Speaking of planning trips, I am a college student and I am preparing to move to the University which means I am going to have to find new places to prospect. I have been mapping on google earth of one location which looks really promising for a lot of different minerals and maybe some gold too. I will be checking it out around the start of spring or summer. So when that time comes, I should have a video out about it. One of the things that are known to be in the area is labradorite. Thanks again, I am hoping to improve with time and put out better videos.

Crush every rock and roast the powder. Pyrite when smelted turns to tiny gold. Also that copper brass was gold too.

Hello everyone, I recently went back up there to do some prospecting to see what I could dig up while panning and detecting in that spot which was already worked by someone. I did end up finding small amounts of super fine gold. I was filming but I don't think it added up to much but, I may post it anyways as a fallow up video if you guys would like to see it. I collected some breccia to eventually crush up and also found a few nice quartz crystal pockets. This is a good location and I think there might be potential to find some good stuff up stream and up in the mountains in the hard rock. I will post the best image I have of a piece of gold I recovered on the community tap on my channel. It was hard to get a good picture because of how small it was in the pan.

Hyya geo, every bit counts, no matter how small. Gold is gold. Keep the geology videos coming, 👍

Those rocks look good for ore containing rock types. You should pan in the creek if it is allowed.
@joshuamoore24_76 ай бұрын
The stuff you said is iron Pyrite might be gold or contain a descent amount of gold.

That slab with the cubes was cool looking. That'd make a nice rock garden accent !
@GeoForge4 жыл бұрын
I took a slab that I found but I misplaced it somewhere. It would have to be treated with something if it was to be kept outside because eventually the pyrite crystals will go dull and eventually oxidize and disintegrate. I think it would look nice sitting on a shelf using a plate stand to hold it up.

@@GeoForge Yeah just coat it with clear epoxy. When you coat things in epoxy you hit it with a quick flame and it comes out crystal clear

Youngin, I don't know about gold but the powder grey rocks with the quartz crystals is silver ore. Now looks like all there is sulphides. I would get a 5 gallon bucket of that and crush it and roast it, then pan out any free gold and use the Parks method on the rest and see how much silver you got. They may have thrown that silver ore out as gangue, not being interested in the silver. Also, ALL galena needs to be checked there as it always contains silver. How do you know that is pyrite and not galena? I don't see a pocket magnet. Pyrite is magnetic, galena is not! I crushed a bucket of galena once. Got 22 pounds of lead and 7 pounds of silver!! That's right pounds! Never leave galena untested. Also, where ever there is Chalcopyrite, there is platinum! The old timers hated platinum. Threw it right out LOL! Be a shame if all that silver ore you found also contained Platinum now wouldn't it LMAO! I'd be high grading that stuff son!

I did happen to collect half of a bucket full of that rock. My Gold Bug 2 metal detector seemed to like it so I collected what I could carry down the mountain. I'm hoping to crush it up once I get my impact mill finished and I get a propane furnace going. Silver and galena would not surprise me for this location because it is very common in the area. When I get a chance, I will have to see what's in it.

@@GeoForge Excellent!! If I wasn't old and crippled up, I'd go with you! Now let me tell you a secret of the old timers you will not hear about in geology class. Blow pipe!!! Find an old text book from around 1900 on blowpipes and how to use them. With a blowpipe, a candle, a piece of charcoal, and some flux you can crush small samples the size of gravel and find out every mineral that's in it!!! An expert can prospect just as good as if he were doing fire essays! Now when you really want to find gold, leave that Gold Bug at home. Not enough nuggets to spend the time. Hunt an old analog machine. I use a 1970's metal box Tesoro El Dorado. You see you can use those to hunt black sand pockets in washes and around bolders. Find the black sand deposits and you will find the gold!!
@mitchdickson2543 жыл бұрын
By the way, it don't have to be a Tesoro although an Eldorado metal box is the best. White's, Fisher, and Garrett also work quite well. You use them backward! Set the threshold and ground balance so that when you cross black sand the sound goes out! Good luck.

It’s pyrite (plural) not “pyrites” and why are you so shaken up? Did you have a rough childhood? You watched yourself in this video during your editing and you didn’t notice that you come across as insecure and afraid to talk. Body language says everything man. Loosen up your lips when you talk, face us more straight on. Don’t look at the camera like it’s the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen. Most important, fucking relax man

@@douglasrichmond1872 you know some people aren't used to being behind a camera as others. What went wrong in your life to make you act like this on someones page? I Understand if you are giving helpful criticism but to say something like " did you have a rough childhood" is rude. Maybe next time you can try to not come off as such an ass and just give helpful feedback. Dont get me wrong some of what you said was fine and helpful but lets keep it a bit more respectful and not act like children. Thanks a bunch!

Most N. Americans say "placer" with the vowel as in "gas" rather than "pay." Occasionally you'll hear a Canadian say "placer" with the vowel as in "father." Nevertheless, I subscribed. :-) My kind of subject matter.
