The entire town was just so subdued that night and the next day. Was shocking to see all the ducks parked in a row at the venue, and the memorial in the parking lot. The victims cars were still in the parking lot the next day. Such a tragic event.

I remember being a kid, and all the times I rode on them. I even got to "drive" it once while on the water. It was more like sitting in the driver's seat for a few minutes. I rode on them a week before the accident. I remember watching a play and when it was time for an intermission, everybody who was there checked their phones at the same time and saw the news. My dad had a conversation with a random guy a few days later about it, and the guy was apparently on the one RIGHT IN FRONT of the one that sank.

In 1994 my mom, myself, my son and his dad moved to Branson. We camped out at Table Rock Lake for 6 weeks while we worked to earn enough money to move into a home. We were able to rent a small two bedroom trailer for $225 plus electric and propane. I loved riding the duck boats. I was so sad to hear of this accident back in 2018. I am glad you were able to search this area. Those people deserve to have their stories and memories preserved. Thank you for your content. Love the Ozarks. Remember that day like it was yesterday. Shattered all our hearts to know what all these families endured. Have been on those ducks numerous times. My daughter went to college at C of O in Branson. Best concept for college ever. Students work in exchange for debt free college degree. It is a tight community. Felt the jolt again. My heart was overflowing as I read losses and pain in comments. My heart goes out to all family, friends, community of those touched by this horrific accident. May you reflect on the fond memories you shared together. They are never forgotten and forever missed. Another note…when my friends son lost his retainer they placed huge metal net in area and his retainer was retained within minutes. Seemed like efficient way to retrieve metal valuables and trash for that matter. Thanks for all that do to clean environment, help families and help solve cases. Your due diligence does not go unnoticed. Thank you to all involved.

What a tragedy. I can't even begin to fathom how a business like that would not require life jackets on every person on board. Here in California they don't play. You are required to have a life jacket on board for every person on the vessel.
@jasonhaynes29523 жыл бұрын
Wearing a life jacket in a situation like this is more likely to kill you than save you. If you're in an enclosed cabin, you can't swim out if your life jacket keeps floating you upward. When a plane crashes in water, they tell everyone not to inflate your life jacket until after your out of the plane for this reason!
@ArmedGringo453 жыл бұрын
Pretty certain you have to wear one in bathtubs in California as well.

There were life jackets aboard the vessel. The captain of the vessel told the passengers not to worry about putting them on. Most States require that there be at least one life jacket per person on any watercraft.

I was there when it happened, I saw the duck boat that sank! When I was younger I went on those same boats, they have windows made of plexiglass which don't role down easy, they also have an over head rack that has life jackets but they only go over your head, not your torso.

The problem I found was if they are from here, which most employees are, they know how storms are. They should have not went in that water. They even discussed it before hand. @Corn Fed I wonder if we’re watching different channels and I’m confused. I’m kind of newish to AWP maybe have watched 5. The last one I watched, the car had been in the water 7 years, and was missed by the local dive team. But when these 2 realized they were in fact over the car, they both burst into tears. The gravity of knowing they just found that young man after so much searching. They were denied by the local authorities any participation in aiding in his recovery, and yet they were very understanding and humble. I probably haven’t seen any of the first videos they produced. I’ve seen other divers (which is probably why this channel Showed up in my feed) where they just dive for lost articles in party boat zones. But those guys are usually pretty cool too trying to find the owners of the phones, jewelry, wallets etc. I gotta admit, now I want to see the douche baggery you’ve mentioned cuz I feel like either I am missing out, or, I have a Waaay different definition of that terminology lol. We were in branson that day. My kids begged to ride the duck boats but I kept saying no so we went to white water instead. Well white water closed early because of the storm and As we were leaving there and walking to our vehicle the wind started and blew dirt in everyones eyes and we finally found our way to the truck and got in and as we sat there while the wind was blowing, we heard the sirens and I told my husband that sounded like alot of sirens and I hoped it wasnt to with a tornado or a boat on the water, because the first day we got to Branson it stormed and as we ate at joes crab shack it overlooks the lake and the water was so choppy from the storm it was scary. As we pulled out of town my phone started going off with alerts about the duck boat and my heart sank because I just knew something on the water happened. That storm came through so quick no one was prepared.

My son was attending The College of the Ozarks at the time. The day of the sinking he drove near the area. He ended up helping with the shore search that evening. After a while of searching; he found a baby's bottle. We later found out that there was a baby on the duck. This affected him greatly. My son will talk to anyone about anything. He called home alot , but after this we didn't hear from him for several days. He had wanted to go into law enforcement before the accident, but never mentioned that again. The terrible tragedy affected him greatly. The duck driver made a bad call that day. He thought that they could beat the storm. The lakes on the White River system are large. The waters act just like the ocean when agitated by the powerful summer storms in this part of tornado alley.

That shell was from a Fat mucket mussel. Before plastics, they were harvested for making buttons since the inside looks like pearl.

I was horrified to learn that nine members of the same family died! So much loss! I couldn’t imagine how scary those last moments were for those aboard.

I was on a ride that morning and were going back to the hotel and the storm came. After we got back the news came on and me and my family were shocked. Just a couple more hours and we could have been one of the people on that ride. I’m so sorry to the family’s that loss a love one that day.🙏🙏🙏

I'm from Springfield. It's really cool that you are here close. I have watch many of your videos. I was never able to take a duck ride and I'm super sad about that but I'm even more sad about the lives lost on this.

My dad and little brother were on the boat right before the one that sunk. Dad said the conditions on the lake were bad. I'm thankful they made it back safely.

I can't fathom the strength the lady had to be interviewed by reporters. I hope she is comforted.

The water was so rough that day that possessions could've ended up almost anywhere. Terrible tragedy, so preventable.

The water was only rough for about 15 to 20 minutes. It was very calm beforehand, then instantly very strong winds, then calm again. I was very close at the time. There was no notice the wind was coming.

Maybe you could go back and have a bunch of volunteer divers line up like they do a search party for a lost person.

I'm from Arkansas and I remember that accident on Lake Hamilton. Also rode and did tours on the Duck in Branson, Missouri twice, 2008 and 2013. It was nice but the last time I rode, I remember the lake waters being super choppy!!! That duck boat rocked and rocked!!! I cannot described the feeling I had in my gut; it was wrenching! I wanted to get off and never get back on. I made up in my mind right then and there that would be my last time riding it, and it was. It was that surreal for me.
