@kyleo1236 It's a Wet & Dry industrial cylinder Vacuum motor dude . Im an electrical engineer I repair them daily !!! " The fan cap assembly & base rubber seal are missing " The open copper windings around the armature are the giveaway along with the suppressor on the wiring loom . A pool pump or boat pump motor would be completely sealed to stop water ingress

I assumed there wouldn't be much treasure for the exact reasons you assumed there would be.. 1. Remote, not many people go there 2. Clear water, White sand, so things are easily visible. 3. It's also so shallow so anything important people would be able to retrieve it easily. There's also nowhere to go so you have all the time in the world to retrieve anything.
