Beautiful leopard, I can only say how appreciative I am to have been able to watch her grow up. Even if she has passed on, it was a privilege to get to view her journey. What an amazing day it'd be to see her show up again though.

I do hope Xongile is ok. After the shock of losing Karula, and not seeing Fang the poor elephant after she was so sick, it would be so uplifting if Xongile would turn up or we had a positive sighting of her. Thank you SafariLive.

I remember that encounter she had with Thandi. Hope she is well and just moved into another area. I can’t think that she is gone forever. You get really attached to these animals. Thank you Tristan and James for the update. Will keep my fingers crossed she is ok. 🤞🏻

Poor Xongile mum left her so young managed to stay survive after ordeal I still holding hope she will appear somewhere??🐆

Better chance of Xongile being alive and elsewhere than there was when Karula went missing. Karula had territory and cubs to defend when she disappeared, she had never abandoned territory or cubs in the past, so I thought it was likely she was dead. Xongile has no territory or cubs, so this time I think there's a chance she is elsewhere now.

I got hooked on safari live when they started broadcasting in the US...Hosana and Xongile were the stars during those broadcasts and they became instant favorites. When Karula disappeared I think we all pulled for them even more and I thought they had got over the hump as they survived without having their mom around as long as they should have. I hope and pray that Xongile has found an area where she can live in peace and may return to Djuma in the near future to the joy of all us safari live addicts

Thank you WE safariLive for the update & the lovely Xongile video. I've ever so slowly and sadly finally accepted that Karula is no longer with us. But I'm grateful for her legacy and the time and wonderful sightings we had with her. However, I don't want to believe that our beautiful, smart and feisty little Xongile is gone. I don't want to be even more sad. I will therefore continue to think positive thoughts and hope our little girl is doing well somewhere out of "our" range. Maybe? Maybe one of our WE presenters may soon find themselves in the areas where she has been reported to be seen (hint hint wink wink pretty please with sugar on top! :-) so that they can report the good news of her sighting back to us. :-)

Thanks SafariLive for putting together this wonderful vignette. Personally, I think it's possible she's alive somewhere. Xongile has shown before that she's cunning and resilient; she was making kills on her own at quite an early age and she gave Thandi a proper go on that fateful night. She may have noticed Thandi and Shadow's increased presence in the area and decided to move off. As far as being unseen for such a lengthy period, Shadow has shown us just how possible that is for a leopard, especially if she is on a new property. Speaking of which, while we SafariLive regulars would know Xongile if she was spotted, would staff on properties further afield know of her? She may be famous for us but in some far off land, perhaps she's just a new leopard in town. Of course this is all conjecture so I'll just go back to blissfully believing the storybook ending where she went off to find her mum and they're both chilling together somewhere. :-)

This is the major conundrum when we become so invested in the various beautiful creatures on SafariLive. We have this all too human need and want for closure. We find all these `loose threads' so frustrating. And it's hard to keep on having to remind oneself, Mother Nature doesn't always provide these kind of answers and obey human absolutes. I too am am feeling kinda bummed about about Karula and Xongile. But at the same time glad that we've gotten to know and love the newer animal members of The Bush and have had a further chance to love even more some of The Characters of The Bush that have been with us for quite some time. And my oh my, I'm still trying to wrap my head around The Mara. But that may take the rest of my life to do so......🐾

Credo che sia viva da qualche parte, in cerca di un suo territorio. Ci sono tanti leopardi di cui non si sente più parlare, incanjeni, quarantine, kutchawa ed altri e questo non significa che sono morti per cui sono fiduciosa. E' la mia favorita! A young leopard lost its life while it got too close to a Safari vehicle front tire... KZbin has a few videos of that incident. I wonder if the confident Xongile was that courageous leopard attacking/playing with Safari guide and the vehicle... She couldn't have disappeared like that... Some thing is being kept under the rags 😕

I sure hope she has found her own territory somewhere else. I watched the sighting with her, Thamba and Hosana live. If that was the last time I saw her, I will definitely remember that drive. She became my favorite leopard that day

This was not what I wanted to see...Xongile is/was and always will be my favorite little girl. I watch the drives everyday hoping and praying to hear of her sighting...but it doesn’t come...still crying over a little leopard I’ve only seen through a TV screen. I guess it’s time to face facts...nature can be brutal and Xongile is only a little girl...

You have a good point there. Karula was a fabulous mother, and they were not quite ready to leave her when she disappeared. Yet they appeared healthy and in good condition every time we saw them. They are both strong young leopards, so here's hoping.
