Searching OLD Penny Boxes - Penny Hunt and Fill #91

I was able to score some OLD penny boxes for the Hunt and Fill Series! This is part 91 of the series (Boxes 167-168) and I do plan on updating it from each penny box I hunt from this point forward until the penny coin collection is nearly completed! I will say in advance that once we get to a point where it is nearly impossible to add any more wheat cents to the album, we will then halt the series and try to fill the rest of the slots with existing finds or coins in my duplicates collection. THE USPS IS DOGSHIT. I would NEVER, EVER, send anything fragile or valuable through them, and I never do. Have a very successful Ebay biz and everything valuable get sent UPS.

out of one box i got 56 wheats, 20p, 35p, 39p... then typical 40's 50's. however, my heart skipped a beat when i saw an indian reverse. saw no s.. was thinking 1900's. flipped it and boom. an 1880 in fine condition. was astonished as it was my first box in maybe 3 years.

Penny hunts in southern California, this is about the norm, mostly Denver mints, the older coins you have a good chance of the San Francisco mint which I can't complain about

I stopped by a branch of one of the banks I have accounts at in another city today before an appointment at a doctors office across the street. I asked if they had any half dollars, and they said they had $12 FV worth. I decided not to look at them when they were placed on the counter, and I had the teller place the halves in an envelope so I wouldn't be able to see them until I got home over an hour later. I was able to score a 1964 and 1967 P, and some others from the 70s and 80s which I will go through and look for varieties on the years with varieties listed on variety vista. Hello, I was just wondering if you had any interest in keeping the 2009 Lincoln series? I figured there would probably be quite a few in those older boxes. Anyway, it was a great watch to see what might show up.

I have full sets of them so I rarely dpot one nice enough to keep. That being said, surprisingly, these 2 boxes had about the same as I normally find and the ones in the rolls were not necessarily more nice than the ones I see in current rolls. There were a TON of nice 2011-2013 cents though!

I scope a lot of coins but MOST RPMs I do not - I plan on looking for valuable RPMs after I have sorted all the coins into rolls for a future hunt.

Pff. Of course USPS didn’t take care of your boxes. Honestly I’ve had the worst experiences shipping stuff through them. Stolen items, damaged packages, and yet they wouldn’t do a thing about it.

Dude needs to learn how to package for shipping. Don't use newspaper for fill, it won't hold the weight. Wrap the boxes in heavy cardboard, wrap tape around the ends and sides, ship. Nonetheless, this should be a pretty cool hunt.

While this hunt was exciting, USPS robbed you out of a possible fill, even if it is only 6 rolls. It seems like you have the worst shipping experience with them when it comes to out of state coins.

When I send them from my post office in Southern California, there are rarely any problems with the boxes. I do put about 6-10 layers of tape on them, and these boxes didn’t have any tape on them.
