Hi Martin... sorry for the late response and thank you for your message and great feedback. She is now finally out of the water and having some work done so very excited and will look for ways to introduce her in the near future. If you have any useful information regarding this design, feel free to contact us, the info on the web is limited... I did as much homework as I could, even contacting the two previous owners who were helpful, and numerous surveys to check her condition. The designer's nephew also provided some useful info which I thought was encouraging. Thanks again, much appreciated

The commentary on the “wider” youtube sailing world was a surprise - but fun… Made me chuckle… 😄 As a beginner, bringing an old contessa 26 back to life, i love your films. They’re clear and precise, and don’t assume any expertise from the viewer. Knowing you’re watching and thinking the same as me… cherry on top of the cake. 😘

Thanks for making this. It's what I was looking for to get some sort of grasp of points of sail. Just a suggestion for the channel; do a video on unsafe sailing. List all the things you'd do if you were trying to screw up and sink your boat. That could be an informative way to teach safety and it'd make for a fun and quirky vid as well.

Congrats on your boat. Love your fun and imformative videos. Very interesting about created wind. If it comes from the bow of the boat, does it just affect the bottom of the boat, and not the sails then?
@searchingforcoconuts2248
@searchingforcoconuts2248 10 ай бұрын
definitely affects the sails... thanks for watching and adding great feedback. The bow just refers to the direction

Points of sail explained perfectly. The only thing I am not sure about is the boom preventer. I thought that was to stop the boom lifting, but I think you are saying it stops it from gybing too? Might have to look into that further. Thanks for another great video though.
@searchingforcoconuts2248
@searchingforcoconuts2248 Жыл бұрын
yes, depends also on the set-up of each particular vessel. The preventer (boomvang) stops the boom from lifting in beam and broad reaches (as well as runs)... On some boats, a separate preventer would need to be set up to avoid an accidental gybe. On our boat, the preventer system accomplishes both these tasks. An accidental gybe can cause serious damage to equipment as well as personnel... hope this helps, and thanks again for watching

If you change from a close hauled to a beam reach without sheeting out wouldn't that just overpower the sails and you would end up with excessive heeling and reduced speed?
@searchingforcoconuts2248
@searchingforcoconuts2248 Жыл бұрын
correct yes, together with your traveler system, the sails have to be adjusted to change of course

@@searchingforcoconuts2248 Also regarding GPS and navigation. Can you maybe cover if it's possible to plot your route offline and then upload it to the boat gps on your bareboat charter, or if you have to manually input the route?

While I understand the need for “click bait,” I have a feeling you have just ceded what was unique and contagious about your videos: your formerly clear, straightforward diagrams and explanations about sailing. Although perhaps not sexy, they were unique in quality for those reasons! This one not shareable.

When I posted my first 2 videos, I thought that everything I had done, was good enough for release. It was due to the input of watchers, that I quickly realised I had made some errors and needed to change a few things. Because of this input I believe I was able to improve the quality of the videos, so your input is much appreciated. Time will tell, and I will again change the direction in which we are going, if that's what the viewers advise. Thanks again, hope you stick with us...

Disappointing that you have to flash a young persons gash to attain peoples attention to a video..... ☹☹
@searchingforcoconuts2248
@searchingforcoconuts2248 2 жыл бұрын
thank you for your input... this young person flashes her gash regularly, and for a small contribution (which actually attracts thousands) you could also follow and see the real deal (if you know what I mean). If I had a gash of my own, I would probably share it too, and big up to them who are making good money in doing so. This was meant as a "tongue-in-cheek" statement that says some of us have to rely on informative content as opposed to baring it all for views. Hope you can understand what we were trying to say
