I've seen this time and time again. So many CEO's just don't have the skill and intellligence to run a company but somehow, they manage to secure the position. Then, after bancrupting one company, go on to do it with others. Shameful.

Sears was an amazing place to work in the early 90s. It was focused on the customer and the employees knew the products and were always there to help. It seems like a lot of their Home improvement employees went to Home Depot and Lowe’s were they weren’t on commission for sales. RIP Sears!

Where was the accountability? He was right Lampert buys rest of assets out of bankruptcy and then starts closing stores mainly Kmart's which Forbes said had the better chance of a turn around. Over 300k people lost their jobs and cities now have blighted closed stores.

Now, here are the non closing Sears locations: 1. Burbank, California. 2. Concord, California. 3. Stockton, California. 4. Whittier, California. 5. Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 6. Miami, Florida. 7. Orlando, Florida. 8. Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. 9. Braintree, Massachusetts. 10. Frederick, Maryland. 11. Jersey City, New Jersey. 12. Newburgh, New York. 13. Greensboro, North Carolina. 14. Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. 15. San Juan, Puerto Rico. 16. El Paso, Texas. 17. Tukwila, Washington. 18. Union Gap, Washington. A total of 18 non closing Sears stores. Separately, there is a booming separate company called Sears Mexico, owned by billionaire Carlos Slim that is doing quite well in Mexico

Even with the new holding company that has control of both chains, I don’t think any Lampert is even close to intelligent when it comes to leading this company. If I were running both chains, I would see to it that the company could innovate again and make sure that it has leaders who actually know what they’re doing and know how to run retail stores. And I would make sure that those leaders were intelligent and competent. I would also put not just and emphasis on online shopping, but Into making The physical stores somewhere people actually want to go and make both Sears and Kmart The brands that they were known for being. The company needed better leaders and they didn’t exactly get what if they needed and let’s face it I would say those leaders were also the reason that there was a lack of innovation. Had there been much different management who knew what they were doing, I feel like they wouldn’t have been behind the times and would’ve caught up with the rest of the industry if not have been far ahead. That would be the strategy I would use if I were running both ears and Kmart. Obviously it would not be anywhere close to Amazons level of big, but it wouldn’t be in as poor of condition as it is now. But that’s just my observation.

Mark Cohen didn’t do well with Sears Canada so why is he dissing Eddie Lampert so much? Sears Holdings will survive with smaller stores and convert into a REIT, I’m long the stock and bonds. SHLDQ is the stock symbol.

Yet 2001 was the best year Sears had under Mark Cohen. Yes, his views and ambitions were different and didn’t align with the companies plans, but it doesnt necessarily make him a bad.
