Thank you! Excellent demonstration. I bought mine brand new back in the 1970s and even though I don’t use it anymore, I take it out every year for clean and fresh oil and run it through all the stitch modes. My tension dial 0 was in the 1 o’clock position and now it’s where it should be. Thanks again!

That was a great way of showing what to do! I struggled with this for 3 days until I finally got things back together that gave me the best results. Seems like if one little thing isn't right, it throws the whole knob out of whack. Now that I have mine back in working great I come across your video. 😂 Thanks for explaining it all.😊

Before I took my 158.17600 tensioner apart the adjustment range was about 0-4. By unscrewing the notched washer a bit I was able to obtain the full 0-9 range. Thank you for the video!

Excellent video! My son "discovered" my old Kenmore and wants to take up sewing. However the one of the legs of the threaded shaft inside the upper thread tension dial has sheared off. Do you have a more detailed video o n how to change that part? TIA!

Thank you, this made the process very easy. The tension discs on my 1340 are definitely worn and rough in places. Are replacements available, or can they be smoothed out and reused?

I've got a Kenmore model 158.19312 and when I pull the clutch out to wind up a bobbin, the needle bar continues to travel. Do I have a stuck clutch? How do I fix this?

158 cleaned and maintained they are built well, and plenty of them still around. there is one with a plastic gear for the zig zag you have to avoid can't remember which one it is though.
