LOved hearing the rain! Loved your paintings and your words of wisdom. I also rather liked the first painting with your own mixture on the top. Oz Floetrol is not the be all and end all - I will forsake it from time to time and try other recipes. Thanks Julie!
@JulieVatcherArtist3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are absolutely right! I have a love hate relationship with it and if we all used it we would all be getting the same effects! (Don’t get me started on ‘blooms’)!!!!!! I did this painting around 3 weeks ago and yes, I really like the ‘home made effects’ and will continue to use my own mixture.... although someone else just commented about using linseed oil?! Have to give that a go x

Composition is key for me as well. If I use silicone, it's usually only in one part of the painting. I use it at the bottom to give texture and details which bring that part of the painting 'forward'. Great video and not controversial. Everyone wants something different x

Yeh... I’m 3 videos ahead of this one and I’m still trying to use the effects sparingly!

These are so well balanced! Color, negative space and definitely well balanced with the effects. I love these! I agree with you, keeping sight of the composition is extremely important. I like the wee bit of lacing, it adds interest yet doesn't distract from the composition. I could barely make out the rain, we're getting snow so rain sounds pleasant to me. Thank you for sharing your art, your experiments and the dry results.

Thank you. The Aussie Floetrol does give beautiful effects, but I wouldn’t want it all over my painting!

Love your experiments. I totally agree the Australia floetol needs to be available for everybody and just like you said in a bigger size. But I have to say I’ve been watching your older videos and you don’t need Aussie floetrol, your artwork is beautiful. You are such an inspiration ❤️christy
@JulieVatcherArtist3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Christy, I actually agree with you! I certainly don’t want to be dependent on Aussie Floetrol.... it’s something I intend to use very sparingly and only when I want that particular effect. It’s been fun experimenting... you never know what I might use next !! 😉

Finally had time to watch this video, loved the outcome of both pictures, but I agree with you, we need Floetrol in the UK whether Aus or USA or an equivalent that works just as well. Thanks for taking the time to experiment x👍🏼

Hi Bev, thanks for taking the time to watch! Aussie floetrol is available in the uk, I will post the link. I think if you do a lot of the ‘bloom’ technique... it’s the stuff to have ! www.acrylicpouringsupplies.co.uk/

Hi Julie, Amazing as usual. I totally agree, effects are lovely but overall we are trying to create an artistic picture so they are not the main event but part of it! I cannot get Aussie floetrol at all here, but I do intend to get some when back in the uk. Keep them coming. Loving your journey! :) P.s. The noise was not of a distracting volume. Happy Sunday! :)
@JulieVatcherArtist3 жыл бұрын
It really isn’t my intention to use a lot of Aussie Floetrol.... I don’t want to depend on it, as it’s so difficult for people to get in the uk. Maybe someday I might find something else under my kitchen sink that I might add to get some other effects! 🤔

Oh My Goodness... I was sad you were going to swipe. Then, I was glad you did, but at the same time, sad you did ;) Fabulous experiment! Thank you so much for sharing - these are stunningly beautiful! Could you dilute Aussie floetrol to make it last longer? Any tips on choosing a house paint and what you would/wouldn’t want as an ingredient? Tips on achieving composition would be greatly appreciated as it’s probably what I struggle most with. XO
@JulieVatcherArtist3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia, I wouldn’t dilute Aussie Floetrol, although there is water added to my mix to get it a little thinner that my colours. As I am only using it as a cell activator, I only use what the paper towel pics up... honestly it’s such a small amount, so I think it’s going to last me a long time! Re composition... having a reference pic to work on is something I often do (there is a video coming up next month in exactly that). Generally it helps to work on the rule of thirds, especially if inspired by landscapes (google will explain that better than me). Also, don’t be afraid of negative space! I have several videos already scheduled for the next month, so next time I record, I will touch on composition. Hope that all helps x

Hi Julie I've been loving your little experiments and has had me think!! Your seascapes are beautiful and I agree the composition is the main event. I think it was Cathleen ozmore who said she thought that Aussie floetrol has linseed oil in it? Maybe this is the secret ingredient who knows?? 👏💜🌈

I managed to get some Aussie Floetrol from that web site, but they are sadly closing down now, I agree, we need someone to stock it wholesale. It was really good, but a bit extravagant for my budget at the moment. I like the effects better with the first one with your cell activator. I know they are seascapes, but that one makes me think of a forest in the background. They are both lovely 😊.
@JulieVatcherArtist2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lesley. I very rarely use Aussie Floetrol now. I have just learnt to adapt without it. I don’t do blooms, so I have no real need for it! I am going to do some more seascapes soon, perhaps I will see how I get on without using the Aussie Floetrol!!
@ladygwarth2 жыл бұрын
@@JulieVatcherArtist I am sure they will be wonderful, I look forward to seeing them. I have seen people do Dutch pours with just paint and water and get cells, I am just learning, but I know there is a lot of science involved, that is part of the fun of it after being a traditional oil painter for years.
