Thanks for posting this! I worked there in 87-90. Everyone in the video that worked there I know personally. Sadly not all of them are still with us. I was the bumper car manager. That was my friend Tom in the bumper car footage. Very cool, and thanks again!!!

This is huge nostalgia for me. I went every year with my family from 85-90. It's different now than it use to be.

Just fantastic. What a rarity to see such clear footage from that time. I was in 11th grade at the time of recording and could very well have been there that day. :) Thank you for positing. It was a pleasure to watch and see all of those attractions in their glory again.

I was just thinking the same thing, that I could have been there. I was in 10th grade, I had gone to Southern Regional in Manahawkin but transferred up North in 1989. So I guess that made me a Benny!

Great video. I use to vacation there in the 80s as a kid and then later in life with my daughter.

As a Jersey boy who was born in the 2000s, it's cool how the boardwalk vibes are so different here than in the post-Sandy world

This brings back so many great memories, it's true nostalgic bliss thank you. My parents with other family members (aunts,uncles,counsins,etc) always did a yearly (mid July for a week+) family vacation coming from the Hudson Valley (Cold Spring NY) down to Seaside. From the early 80's until the mid 2000's and we always stayed at the Coral Sands motel. Some of the best memories of my life!

Beauttiful Swiss Bobs, and Monster....hate hearing the rides were lost....beach boardwalks are the best and they seem to be disapearing, like everything elese in the world of leisure entertainment.

I was a kid hanging here during this era. I'd give anything for them to have a "retro week" there.. play hair metal and dance pop, and do the airbrush tops with the fringe😎🤘

For me, 1990 was peak 'Seaside Heights' in terms of the rides. That Himalaya was just miles better than the current Musik Express, and the Disco Star was just miles better than the subpar 'Rock 'N' Roll' version I've seen at AC and Wildwood. And they even still had a Bayern Kurve ('Power Jet') back then. *sigh* ... I miss those days.

Classics. And honestly most times those rides ran a HELL of a lot faster back then. Most rides now have such lame ride cycles because the crowds are too big and they don't want people puking. Quicker cycles: less spinning/less chances of people puking. I mean there are def still some very fast rides, but those old Himalayas? They were IT and so friggen fast. Never gone on one, but saw plenty Music Express's and Himalaya's at carnivals in the early/mid 90's and they were FAST FAST! I love the older rides and videos of them!

I love how they are playing the great old fashion classic music and not this pop culture bullshit you hear on the radio nowadays in public! I wish I was a teen in the 90’s and I love how they were playing you give Love a bad name & living on a prayer by Bon Jovi in the background and I love how they are playing a lot of Bon Jovi and I love how Back In Day they understood what great music was in public but nowadays in the modern day they don’t understand what good music is in public!

Back then, I'll bet your grandparents said the same things about the music you loved. It never stops.

At 9:12 that ride was my favorite in the late 70's A smart guy would sit to the outside and your lady would have no choice but to snuggle up a full speed when the siren sounded. We used to spend whole weekends down there. Under the pier by a certain food vendor they had a garden hose 24/7 with nice warm water to clean up. We would camp real cheap at the pine forest camp grounds. hours upon hours spent in the Chatterbox! My brother ran the mixer 2 seasons.

Does anyone know if there was a ride at seaside heights either in the 1970's, 1980's or 1990's called the Enterprise? I thought there was and the floor dropped out of it when the ride started.
@drakkar919 жыл бұрын
+Megan Hurley Yes, it was there as late as the summer of 2012, but was either lost to the ocean or damaged beyond repair during Hurricane Sandy. I'm not sure when it first appeared on Casino Pier. I captured it in video which can be found in this clip from July 2012 (about 4 1/2 minutes in). vimeo.com/97495183

+Megan Hurley Floor drop out? Do you mean like the Starship at Funtown? Where it spun around super fast and then the panels that your back was against would raise up and down? Or maybe a Chance Rotor ride?

The only rides that was there during Hurricane Sandy was the inner scrambler portion of the "Poltergeist" and the darkride. The rest of these rides were long long gone by the time Sandy came. I also wonder what became of the original Alen Herschell Flying Bobs and Revechon Himalaya. These two rides were booted from the pier when the Serentinos bought the pier. That Swartzcoph Swiss Bob with the space retheme was very unique. I wonder what became of that one.

I wonder what became of the Swatzkopf Jet Star Coaster in this vid. That was my first coasters a little one. They replaced it with a terrible ridein 2002 and called it the Star Jet so most people wouldn't even notice. I wonder where the original went/is.
@UsefulEntertainment4 жыл бұрын
@@kylesarrecchia6758 hate to tell you man but they demolished the original jet star in 2000. It was my favorite ride growing up and i remember how upset i was.

@@UsefulEntertainment Hmmm I think I found the official year on line but either or is fine. All I know is that I was upset about it lol Hey, interesting tid bit... There is only one Jetstar left in the US. It is still in Indiana Beach amusement park. I actually had plans to take my kids there this summer to experience my first roller coaster and ya know what just happened? THEY CLOSED THE DAMN PARK DOWN SUDDENLY!! WTH??? It's been there for 92 years and they just closed it. I'm heartbroken. What an underrated coaster huh?
@UsefulEntertainment4 жыл бұрын
@@kylesarrecchia6758 did they close just the park or the coster indefinitely? The sea side coster was put up in 1970 so it only had a 30 year run.
