“What was it like lying in that hole for a thousand years?” “I was enjoying it until you guys showed up.” Perfectly encapsulates what Immortality is actually like. You eventually accept the inevitability of being stuck somewhere forever, and feel cold once you leave that place you’ve been in for so long. Call it a funny joke or a typical ‘Bender quip’, but I believe this is just a testament to how he’s capable of accepting others, and possibly himself.

I wonder, do you guys think that the reason Bender said he was enjoying his thousand years in the sand has to do with his computational power? Bear with me, I think it's possible that Bender may have created a simulated universe and dived into it to live the next 1,000 years in his own private world. The reason I guessed that is because it's odd that he didnt get lonely with all that time by himself. Also he is a robot created 1,000 years in the future. As such, I think it's reasonable to assume he'd have the technological requirements to do something like that.
