SEASON 14 TOP LANE TIER LIST

Hey everyone, I just wanted to get a list out early to help with the early season uncertainties, keep in mind this list was made on day one of the new season so there may be some inaccuracies due to small sample size, for example if I were to remake it now I'd put Riven lower due to the weak bruiser items but in general I'd keep the majority of the champs in the same spot

Your in-depth champion guides have were well made and detailed so I don't think fully redoing them for this season is necessary. Maybe something like 'How the new map and items affected these champions' and group 3-4 of the ones you previously covered into a single video, with the original ones being referenced for things like lane matchups and counters. Just to keep them season relevant.

I agree.unless there were huge changes that heavily affects their patterns, I think most of the things you said probably still apply. You can also do what Coach Cup a ke does for support and make shorter addendum videos to cover just the parts that changed.

As a Riven main, the item changes are DOGSHIT. Less Cooldown overall, less sustain, less armor penetration and good items being too expensive for her, makes her a LOT WORSE in this season compared to S13.

Bro what? If you rush spear of shojin + transcendence you usually have enough to q delay. The issue is the sustain but for that you'd better build hydra first. Since you're a riven main you should still know that she's best when ahead so obviously you need to make sure of that. Also remember that most tank items got nerfed to the point you'll simply be dealing more damage than they'll sustain. Riven is crazy rn

They only nerfed 2 tank items with 5 less armor or 50 less HP, but new tank items being added, jaksho being more stat item instead of sustain item, hydra nerfed it's damage, nerfed it's lifesteal, nerfed the gold price to 150 more for less stats, eclipse with no %dmg, armor pen items changed to lethality, lethality being flat damage and does not scale with ad. Riven with 3 items reached 110/120 AH and now you need 5 items to reach that spike. Riven is NOT AN EARLY GAME CHAMPION. She's a snowball champion with setup for splitpush and teamfight in lategame and she benefits the most from AH and flat armor pen.

Hi, at 13:50 you mentioned how Kled got weaker because Goredrinker is gone, but Kled's best build last season is: Ravenous Hydra - Eclipse - Mortal Reminder/Black Cleaver - Situational but you're right about his build losing a LOT of ability haste, which sucks but I think it makes items like bork, shojin or even navori look attractive for him.

Hydra is quite a bit weaker now, and no lethality on eclipse definitely hurt the champ quite a lot

I personally disagree very much with this tierlist. Based on early stats which are still reprentative in some way, since there are tousands of games already its pretty clear, that basically all AP Toplaner are A+ or S tier. Also Vayne seems pretty OP right now, since its pretty hard to gank top right now, which was her biggest weakness. And if you dont completely int every gold player should be able to pick her up or champs like kennen, who also is pretty good right since the new items give him exactly what he wants. But I still appreciate that Video since its really rare to find tierlist with reasonable explaination. :D

I have to disagree with Riven being s tier. She might benefit from Sunderer being removed but the new items are terrible on Riven. She can't get enough haste with one item and armor pen is just shit

As a renekton main... finally someone who doesn't put him in A/S tier for no reason. I see so much people saying ''yeah shojin is going to be good on him'' but... it doesn't work on his W, his main source of damage ! Hulkbreaker is bugged on his W, same for Sundered sky... Hexplate new item is not bad on him but probably not that great as others champions. I think renekton will definitively be weaker in average hands, the ''common'' goredrinker/sterak/bc build is no longer possible due to goredrinker removal and bc is way weaker. Sterak is still strong tho. But in OTP hands he will probably recover. At the moment he is at 46 porcent winrate btw, he will probably be better when most randoms renekton will leave the champion. So if it's for ''average'' renekton player i'd say he is more C than B. Probably high B in OTP/good hands.

If you like to play tanks, dont blind pick them, they are really easy to counterpick. As an example if you FP Mundo, there is a high chance you get countered by Aatrox or some botrk user lol

I've tried Aatrox so many times, but I can't get the mechanics down - I can't keep enemies in the sweet spot of his Q. It's a bummer because I snatched up his dope ass prestige bloodmoon skin.

I think swain is serously a toplaner to consider, he has very polarizing matchups but with ROA being cheaper, liandry's/riftmaker being a option and cosmic drive giving health, the super server build just got so much stronger.

Gwen is one of Urgot's easiest matchups because she cant ever use E aggressively. The akali lane is very playable too (and you can easily get early prio into her) and at one item she just doesnt win. Rumble is the only unplayable matchup out of those three. And no, thid is not how it goes in gold, I'm also talking about master till chall. I dont like it when these tier lists explain matchups of champs they obviously dont play because more often than not its not their expertise.

Hey coach, I was wondering if you've ever played or considered Lillia top. She does a lot of what other AP top bullies can do, but it surprisingly safe and strong throughout the entire game. Ult always useful and kind of dominates into anything but ranged AA (vayne, teemo, quinn) IMO.

I ve been playing a bit of kayle on this patch and the rush kraken is omega good because it gives you so much power in early game and you can be lvl 6 at 5 minutes so I'd say below high masters if you know how to manage your lane to get your lvl 6 on the 5min wave it's still really good to fight for void grubs with your jgl

I would put illoai in the C tier because his second most important item (hullbreaker) is not as good for him as it was last season and the map changes on toplane now force him to either go defensive or extremely offensive and gankable since there is less terrain for tentacles to spawn

Im zac top otp and too be honest he is this season A high tier! Last season it would be impossible to duel against champions like jax, illaoi, camille, fiora, nasus who would just build sunderer, it was literally the best item to counter him but now there literally isnt any item that can do that. Maybe if your against smth super cheesy like barrier, first item BORK ww and if they play really well you can have some trouble, or if its like a really good darius or sett, but thats the only reason why he is not S for this rare cases. But apart from that if you play good on him theres no way that you will loose lane especially beeing able to build anathemas first item and now y actually have a ap version of sun fire wich you can rush first as well?! Its too good, not to talk about his strong point wich is not even early game but tf Edit: even tho i dont play him there he was pretty good mid but now with stormsurge he is even better there i think (full ap)

So far from what I've seen any champ that builds Tank / AP / Crit / Lethality just insanely shits on champs that go Bruiser items. Bruiser items are dead and Phreak already said it indirectly in his 14.1 patch preview a couple days ago.

Just go kled mid, he is both S tier top and mid but kled top is Shit and kled mid is Super. The problem is he have no good build. Either tank, bruiser or assain. Consider banning zed if you go mid. The rest is easy. I play kled top for 3 years, reach diamond 1 many time but now I even struggle in low gold, having 45% winrate. Switch to mid and have like 70% win rate. Not a decrease in skill, but kled just so weak in top. Switch to mid and it feel unstoppable, just like back to the golden day!

Ravenous Hydra is just pretty bad item and insanely expensive, trinity giga overrated by community who can't read stats and use context alongside numbers (talking about people perma parroting that pros and everyone are stupid for not building trinity over sunderer cause trinity has better win rate) and Eclipse was changed for the worse for Riven as well as she lost ability to stack armour pen. I am not gonna be suprised if Camille, Fiora and Riven will get buffed in the next two patches.

Evaluation of Warwick is not that great tbh, euw challenger Warwick H0rnlime builds him ad drain tank with hydra then full tank. He definitely going to be strong taking that route this season as well as with all the new tank items
