FYI Steve and Billy are seniors, so they're about to graduate and that's why Steve is trying to get into college. Nancy and Jonathon are juniors, 11th grade, so they'll be seniors next year. Max and the boys are all in 8th grade, so they're about to start high school. But season 3 takes place during the summer so still have a minute before we see any of that.

@@thantzyhanzter8422 I know someone's going to argue with me about this, but this is just my observation from growing up in Alabama and Louisiana, which is relevant because they're from Georgia: you'll find that a lot of people in the South try to act like racism isn't a thing anymore or that it's viewed as rude to talk about. That whole 'Southern hospitality' thing is nice at times (I moved out of the South about ten years ago and I do miss how friendly and polite people tend to be, there's definitely still plenty of rude folks tho of course) but the downside is that people often turn a blind eye to keep the peace. Or they're taught to not even see it in the first place, like not seeing racism makes it disappear.

@TheOctobersReact So Billy in season 2 had some racist undertones to the way he behaved and spoke. So it definitely makes sense that he would go after Lucas first. Especially a black boy hanging out with his step sister. I’m also glad you were harsh on Billy because sooo many people go to the ends of the earth defending Billy. Apparently because his Daddy is mean and abusive towards him that means it’s perfectly acceptable and fine the way he behaves and speaks to people. I swear the man literally could have tortured and killed helpless adorable puppies or actual babies and Billy stans would go “awww poor Billy his dad is so mean to him”. I mean I do think the Dad is abusive towards Billy which is why I’m guessing Billy’s mom isn’t in the picture. But even if he was super abusive towards Billy I still don’t think that automatically excuses him from all of the horrible things he’s he does. He is a violent psychopath literally tried to run kids over with his car, attempted to beat up an 11 year old till Steve stepped up, and was going to beat Steve till he stopped breathing or at least put him in the hospital. I think there’s a time and place for parents to discipline their kids sometimes physically if they just won’t listen or get themselves under control. But I think Billy’s situation was his Dad being abusive towards him which then resulted in him acting out and lashing out on those weaker than him. So I think my biggest issue with Billy apologists is that they don’t understand that his home life is not a good enough excuse for his actions. And vice versa Billy haters (I put myself in that category) can’t recognize that maybe he is a broken lost kid acting out. Again does not excuse his b*tch a$$ actions though.
