I live in WA and probably 90% of our power comes from Hydroelectric dams. Now our idiot governor has mandated a switch to all electric cars while banning the construction of new power plants and starting to demolish some of our Hydroelectric dams to "save the salmon." The leftists don't seem to realize that you can't pull electricity out of thin air. I agree with Jason when talking about green energy. Anyways, loved your podcast and your channel. I'm an equipment operator as well but I still learn a lot from your channel.

Mike you make a lot of sense on power and green energy here in Australia we are fighting the greenies they want all our coal and gas power stations closed they want coal mining closed down even though it's a multi billion dollar export for our country ,.the comments of you and your friends echo most Australians thoughts but sadly it's political here although the greens party are small the major political party in power need the green vote to pass bills in parliament,.it's all F××ked up mate ,but it's nice to unwind with like minded guys like you and Aaron and Jason cheers Kym Adelaide

Something for a show idea... I'm currently a contractor and a one man show, I do a little bit of everything from demo/excavation to building a house. I have been approached by a couple of smaller companies for doing sales for them, both of them are not big enough to have a full time sales guy but could defiantly benefit from having one. From my understanding and watching your shows this is something similar to what Matt does. We haven't set anything in stone but talking a percentage of each job and if I'm free paying me a hourly rate to drive the dump truck or run equipment for them. So my question is some in depth details on how this works on your end and what are some fair rates, how does everything work from the time you get the initial phone call looking for a bid to when a project is finished.

JWAL, agree with the green conversation except ....solar cells are made of mostly silicon (sand), a little gallium and phosphorous. Silicon is is not as difficult or energy intensive to mine as silver.

I tend to mean more the mining of lithium for batteries vs oil for fuel🙃. I don’t really have much of a gripe with the idea of clean energy except the whole people freezing and starving because we haven’t gotten it right yet and we’re forcing a switch to it.

How's about we TRASITION to green instead of JUMPING to green power? As a side note: My sister had a Prius hybrid with a small gas engine that ran at a fairly constant speed (when battery charge got low) which really didn't create a lot of emissions and 40 to 50 MPG and good range. So , I sometimes wonder why hybrid technology is being ditched for battery only instead of being refined and optimized before going completely electric?
