@@teresabaker4050 I did watch season one, multiple times. Except for a few moments, I thought the show was mid at best. At worst it felt like a complete insult to what Rice wrote. You're fine. I'm glad there are people who enjoy the show. Can I ask you, what you liked about season one? I mostly see people expressing negative feelings about it.

I feel like, because people compare it to IWTV, Mayfair gets such a bad rep....I don't think it's that Mayfair was actually bad, I think it was good-it's just that IWTV is even more than just a good show, because IWTV is actually a _great_ show several cuts above just good, so that makes Mayfair seem worse than it is(and then on top of that you throw in the fact that Mayfair [or so I've heard ]also made even more significant alterations and deviations from its original book source materials for less narratively obvious reasons than IWTV did, so you get many people that also don't differentiate between a bad show versus a poor or disloyal adaptation, too). But maybe that's just me. 🤷 😊

@@hanyoplays6141 I've read several of the Vampire Chronicles' books, but I never got around to reading any of the Mayfair books(yet) myself, so whether or not the Mayfair tv series was anything like the Mayfair books or not really just didn't even factor in to whether I liked the (AMC)Mayfair series at all or not. I think what I personally liked best about the Mayfair tv series was Ciprien, and/or Lasher. But I also really liked Rowan and Rowan's powers and her search for the answers that had been withheld from her regarding who her birth family was and why she'd been kept separate from them and where her powers come from or not and her complex/complicated relationship with Lasher, and the twists and turns as various things were slowly revealed or various layers peeled back about everybody's various goals/agendas and the tangled metaphorical-webs that people can weave sometimes and the lengths they're willing to go to achieve them and/or to keep their secrets and such, and the way thay various characters' goals/agendas intersected and interwove or clashed or contrasted or played off each other. It's also a bit of a novelty, for me, sort of getting to see Rowan's actress grow up as I myself have grown up from the Percy Jackson movies to now(and I think she also acts well). And it was interesting finally watching something of Jack Huston's work specifically, after having believed for a time that he would be in that new 'The Crow' movie before that stage in production unfortunately didn't end up panning out after all and the whole script was rewritten and the lead role recast yet again and all, I think if that particular iteration of 'The Crow' had actually moved forward successfully Huston likely would've handled the role wonderfully because I thought his work in Mayfair was really great.

If the writers had followed Lasher, then there would have felt like the Species 2 movie: Lasher raping all of the Mayfair women, constant miscarriages, underage rape from Mona, and walking taltos babies who are physically adults and mentally infants with an instictual sex drive. It wouldn't have been a good visual adaptation. I think a slow burn suits Mayfair Witches better than matching the book.

I feel like it should have been as historical as iwtv because it's the way Anne writes everything, going back a millennia to add a new layer to the story. How they've just ignored these huge plotlines is beyond me :/
@jaginaiaelectrizs63412 күн бұрын
But even Anne's books were set during then-contemporaneous times. IWTV was written in 1973 and published in 1976, the fictional interview featured within that book also took place during the 1970s, and it makes sense that the IWTV tv series rolled things forward so the fictional interview that's featured in the tv series also takes place now in the 2020s same as the tv series is airing-and since some of the characters from the Mayfair trilogy + some characters from the Vampire Chronicles are all alive and physically meet during the same non-historical/modern time-frame, it makes sense that the Mayfair tv series should have been brought forward in time into the 2020s, too. (And with only 8 eps per season, unfortunately, there is just only so much family history or such you can cram into it; you just inevitably have to pick and choose what is the absolute most important/essential to keep or not.) It's not as if there are absolutely zero flashbacks into more historical periods within the Mayfair tv series at all, because there actually are, we do get to see some of the Mayfair family's history even if it is undoubtedly much more abbreviated than it likely was in the books. There are plenty of things that got significantly abbreviated even in the IWTV tv series as well, and that got fortunate enough to have been given twice as many episodes to work with per book.

@@guynyu No, don't get me wrong-(although I don't outright dislike the Mayfair tv series)I personally prefer the IWTV tv series, myself, too. I just thought your comment sounded like it was trying to say the Mayfair tv series should've been a period piece / historical drama or something, and that IWTV is one. But neither tv series is, even though IWTV does of course have exponentially lengthier flashback sequences, and neither were any of the Mayfair or Vampire Chronicles books either. That's all I meant. Lol (Sorry, if I misunderstood, forgive me!🙏🙂)

It's a shame they couldn't have found a bunch of passionate/dedicated Mayfair nerds to work on the tv series, much like they did manage to find a buncha Chronicles nerds for IWTV cast & crew. But, then again, I suppose Mayfair has always been considerably even more niche. But I think it definitely could've been much much worse, as a tv series in its own rights without regard for how it is or not as an adaptation overall[ and even as an adaptation from what I've heard it probably could've been even worse than it is too even though it's maybe still not the greatest adaptation it ever could've been], for whatever that might or not be worth.)

I am wondering why they are introducing yet another love interest for Rowan, though....what was the point of making Cip[ from what I have heard secondhand] basically a composite of the two male characters from the Mayfair books, if they were just going to go ahead and introduce another character in the mix later on anyway? Is this them basically just trying to retroactively walk the decision to take creative liberties there and cave to pressure from book fans?😅 (Or is this something they were always planning on doing, all along? 🤔) I'm genuinely curious. 😊 I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next in the upcoming season! ((But I really liked Cip, and Rowan/Cip as a couple, so..I'm not sure how I feel about another love-interest suddenly coming in, unless they're just going full on open and/or poly relationship, or they do a really really good job at convincing me that Rowan/Cip shouldn't actually be together after all. 😅 Lol 😂))
