I'll toss in some Miss Marple recs for Spring and Summer. I feel like Murder at the Vicarage is good for Spring. A lot of gardening talk and the Vicar/Vicarage is the main character and setting and church just reminds me of Spring with Easter. Also, for Summer, A Caribbean Mystery is a good read as well.

I would add the play The Mousetrap. It definitely has a trapped in by snow theme to it. I like reading Christmas themed books around the holidays.

Spooky: The Pale Horse. Fatal curses being put on people by a sinister cult. By the pricking of my thumbs: a dead baby apparently walled up inside a lonely house;and a series of unsolved child murders. If those aren't spooky enough,I don't know what are! Winter: would you include a novella? If so,The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding would be a natural choice!

What a fun idea! "Evil Under the Sun" is very summery to me too. Based on a mere feeling I think of "A Pocket Full of Rye" as being autumnal and "The Mirror Crack'd" as being vernal, but that's just a vague "that's what they feel like to me" type thing. By the way whenever you hold up your facsimile editions, the Christie geek in me is delighted. Some of those are really lovely (ie Death on the Nile and Appointment with Death - I believe they were designed by one of the members of the Mallowan archeological team actually). Loved the shout out to Carole King, haha!

I’ll have to check out The Sittaford Mystery. I’ve been looking for a wintry stand-alone Christie. I figured there must be one, she wrote so many books!

Although I'm not sure I like Christie's writing style your videos talking about classic mysteries finally got me willing to give the genre a go. I've always been put off by contemporary mystery settings so I think the Golden age might be right up my alley.

Just a few days ago I was talking with my mum about an autumnal Agatha Christie. I heard of Christmas ones but not of autumnal ones. My mum read all Agatha Christie but wasn’t sure since if there was one. So I googled it and this video was at the top of the page. Why didn’t I just come straight here considering I love your Agatha Christie videos and they are one of the reasons I want to start actually reading her books instead of „just“ watching the adaptations. Anyway thank you for the video 😊

For whomever that comes across this video years after its publication, a personal addition recommendation: Fall - After the Funeral (Richard Abernethie dies, and after his funeral family memebers start getting murdered one by one), for its rather dark atmosphere and family drama vibes. Winter - The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding (A foreign royal, stolen jewelry, and a Christmas party with a Christmas pudding), for its pure fun and fabulous description of the pudding. Spring - Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side (Miss Marple is recovering from a chest infection and is bored silly, so Dr Haydock jokingly prescribes her a good murder. And a murder indeed happens during a big party thrown by a movie star in the neighbourhood.), for the minor theme of recovery (in re Miss Marple) and the bustling coziness of St. Mary Mead in the 60s. Spring - Sleeping Murder (Miss Marple helps uncover a case that took place decades ago in an English countryside), for it actually takes in the spring, I think? Spring or early summer, maybe. It has both the warm, summery evening vibes and a chilling sleeping murder. Summer - N or M? (Middle-aged Tommy and Tuppence during WW2), for its rather silly, and thus fun, product-of-its-time spy adventure during war-time.

This is a helpful video! I definitely enjoy reading particular books at certain times of the year. Not connected to Agatha Christie, but have you read the Rockton series by Kelley Armstrong? There's definitely a blizzard that happens in the second book (I believe) and murders must be solved!

@@bookslikewhoa I hope you enjoy them if you get to them! Kelley Armstrong also has some paranormal romance/urban fantasy books that I love (but read her adult series, not her YA stuff). The Rockton series is all about solving murders in a small town in the Yukon where people basically pay to go off the grid and prevent people from finding them. I think you'd like it!

I love this video ! You have some great recommendations. I read Evil Under the Sun one summer and it was perfect - a good "beach read " . Side note: I wonder if you have read any of Agatha's romance novels ( Mary Westmacott ). I haven't but would love to hear your take on her as a romance writer if you have read them. Maybe a future project 🙂

The „Evil under the sun“ movie with Perter Ustinov is extremely summer-y. They changed a few things like it’s now set somewhere in the Adriatic Sea. You can basically feel the heat. Also it’s basically a close Circle Mystery. Can only recommend it. I watch it a few times every year. Also Maggie Smith is in it like in death on the nile.
