The year I was diagnosed I began treatment with a mastectomy + 17 lymph nodes, chemo started in January, then ended Sept with radiation. So it was one year of physical and emotional hell to extend my life a few more years. That Christmas at a Broadway Holiday Musical, they ended the program with the actors choice song. . . and this was it! Bald as a newborn baby, I stood for this performance and sang along with tears of joy rolling down my cheeks. Now THAT's a connection to a song!

I can't help crying as I watch this video. My father died in March. I was only able to see him for about 5 minutes in person the last year of his life due to the pandemic and being a health care worker. I didn't want to put my parents at risk of getting covid. I just feel like I was cheated out precious time that could have been spent with him. If anything comes from this pandemic I hope it's people putting more value in the time they spend with family and other loved ones. Ahh! This last year, at my school (Great Oak) I sang this as a Tenor with my friend Roy. Him and I were the only tenors and I stuck by him and just tried to learn how to actually sing well... I tried my best, and I'm happy that I was able to spend the time with him that I had (He was a senior, and I a freshman, but now he's off to college, and I'm a sophomore now). @kassiesabourin6494 A friend took me to Rent on Broadway the year it debuted. I saw it when the cast included David Pascal Jesse L. Maartin, Idina Menzel, Wilson Heredia (Angel), Taye Diggs, David Driver & Daphne Rubin-Vega. It changed my life. I live in the neighborhood in which it takes place, the East Village, in Manhattan. People were truly dropping like flies from AIDS here before antiretrovirals became available. This play was a midern-day version of the opera La Bohème. "Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent opened on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre April 29, 1996. The production, directed by Michael Greif, played over 5,000 performances, running for 12 years before closing on September 7, 2008."

My school sang this in 5th grade and now I’m in 8th and I still know this song by heart. We are singing it as a choir instead of music class. We are singing it for our concert in the spring so excited to sing this with my school choir! Love this song so much ! Go to a shower song ❤️

I grew up in upstate NY. This was uploaded when I was in middle School there. We constantly sang this song in middle school Chorus Class in 5th/6th grade (2005 - 2007). I didn’t know it was from this movie until 2011 in High School. I got whiplashed back to middle school. That was one of the worst points in my life, honestly. But this brought back the more better moments when I didn’t think about all the bad things, and I just hung out. The school kept trying hard to put me in extra help classes, then tried putting me in special education. That stuff hurts your self esteem. Its a big hit when you just finished being a young kid thinking anything was possible for the future. Man, seeing this video also hits in a bittersweet way now. I lived in NYC for a year for a job I had. The scenery and streets look very NYC.

My old Elementary School music teacher died due to having a battle with blood cancer. I am in 7th Grade and I am proud to say that my Elementary Dchool music teacher was the best music teacher I had in Kindergarten. My thoughts were that she's still watching the Elementary School I had back in the day. I am proud to also say that she is in a heavenly place.
