I have a 2018 Yamaha ptv, if I install this facing forward and point up, the seat belt retractors dig into the seat back, the seat backs are much lower than on this cart. Is there any reason I couldn't turn it backwards, so they are facing backward and at an upper angle? I know it says there are multiple ways to mount it but then the video also says make sure it's facing forward and up.

You can mount them facing forwards or backwards. It's a universal seat belt bracket. Just make sure when mounting the bracket to the cart, you need to mount it on a metal surface vs. a plastic one.
