Window regulator broke on Friday night. Could hear what were the cables breaking. On removal found to be frayed and rusted through, bought replacement window regulator kit from car europarts for £105 discounted to £65! Black Friday deal! Then 4 hours on Sunday morning did this with the panel and the other video to fit the new regulator. Thanks so much. Was fiddly to put back together but went slow and steady and taking pictures as I went all went back perfectly. Saved me a couple of hundred £££ labour alone without doubt. Anyone fairly competent can do this following these steps.

Cheers for your video, I want to take the door cards off to strengthen them for aftermarket speakers as well as deaden the door skins. This is about the only KZbin vid that shows you all you need to take them off fully. Useful hints on the airbag sensor, saves a trip to the Seat garage!Thank you.

Thanks for the two helpful videos! Thought my car breaks before I also have to change the other window regulator - but after all the years car is still running but the window came down and I had to change it. It's quite tricky and takes longer as one thinks, esp. when heavy rain make you stop. Second person can help bringin it back in the right place.

A great help to me while doing the drivers door (uk). Many thanks Michael. I went for a cable change to save about £110. Had a terrible struggle getting the cables to fit and found new cable lengths not exactly the same as originals. I had to trim the outer cover on one, and fit an old cable that was still in reasonable condition, it was 0.25 inches longer than the new one, and I trimmed off 0.25 inches from the mentioned outer cable. These cables were an eBay purchase. I'd recommend buying from a spares shop so that they could be exchanged if they weren't a good match. Now to spend the savings on some wine ;-)

Thanks so much for this. I have a Toledo 3, same design doors. Just lubed the regulator cables and guides with silicone spray, window now working fine. The electric windows are a weak point on these cars.

Hi! That's not really how this was designed to be done. This is a door trim module, which means that the door trim comes with all the mechanisms attached to it. You don't need to do that much. You need to loosen the screws to the body in white and the glass from the window lifting mechanism and then you need to pull up for the hooks on the perimeter to be free. Afterwards it takes a bit of coming up and down and out to allow the window lifter mechanism to come oir of the hole of the body in white. Once you have it all out in one piece, you can repair any of the mechanisms. Btw. The strange attachment is a buffer for crash. The cones collapse in a way that your spine isn't broken during a side crash. I hope that helps.

There's several important parts you left out or edited out. One of the screws that holds the panel also holds that metallic track where the window rides. So, there's 3 things being titghened: door panel, door frame and metallic track...all by one screw. They need to be align. Use a flaslight. Near the lock there's a plastic part that's weirdly placed and needs some special care. After removing all screws you really need to pull up and the all panel....almost seems you have to push too hard. The "putting it all together" is even worse. You need finger strenght to fix manually sone tabs sonthe others don't come out. The top part near the window need to be fist-hammered. I swear. Make sure the screw holes are align before putting them. Don't force them. The best mind set is both: be confident and have a friend you can call as a plan B. Now i understand why mechanics complain about cat design and engineering. Jesus!

Hello. Is it necessary to disconnect the battery before disassembling the upholstery, so that when unplugging the airbag sensor it does not report a fault in the airbag system, is it enough to not turn on the ignition when the sensor is open ???

Hej Michael. Jeg tager den lige på Dansk. Tak for dit svar. Du når 6.45 minutter hen i din video og vups, så er panelet monteret. Min bil er en 2005 Altea. Jeg kan se at kablet til dørhåndtaget er monteret lidt anderledes i min. Som du også nævner det, kan jeg heller ikke se formålet med den apendix der sidder ved låsen, og hvordan den skal sidde. I bunden sidder der 2 løse beslag som jeg ikke har styr på. Kan du huske hvad du gjorde ved apendixen og beslagene i bunden.

Hi Michael, Thank you so much for doing this video, I followed it to do my drivers door and it made it a lot less daunting a job! I found I could leave a lot of the wiring in place to make it easier and would recommend the same for others. Did you find it tricky to the get the left regulator arm screwed in place? Doing it through the panel I found the screw holes needed to be forced higher up than they wanted to be?

+Jason Blay You are welcome. It depends on whether you need to remove the door panel completely how many wiring you must remove. I do not know what you mean by regulator arm, I had no problems with screws holes.

+Michael Krøse I changed the regulator for the window and it was one of the metal guide rails that was the problem. It was difficult to get it to line up for the long screw on the bottom of the door! Thanks again.

+Thomas ilsø Hej Thomas Lad vær med at skifte diskanten dem er limet fast til dørbeklædningen, såfremt du vælger at pille den af, så skal du finde en i samme størrelse som org, tweeter og denne skal så limes fast eller monteres ovenpå den gamles placering og det tror jeg bliver noget lort, det jeg har gjort efter at have ødelagt den ene, er at afmontere det stik der sidder til tweeteren og så har jeg fået lavet en løsning hvor de sidder i rude trekanten til sidespejlet, så sidder de lydmæssigt rigtig og peger i lytter retning. Hvilket komponet sæt har du købt?

+lamin camara Jeg har fået fat i JL Audio cs3 650 komponent, som i mine ører lyder suverent ! :-) Men jeg har nu ikke fået dørbeklædningen af endnu. Fordi som du beskrev, så sidder der 4 arme fra vindues ophænget direkte ind i beklædningen, og det besværlig gjorde det så meget at jeg opgav til sidst. Så nu er jeg lidt på herrens mark, til jeg lige finder lidt hjælp :-)

disassembling is easy. assembling is horror. I have done many audi, vw, skoda, and when I did altea/leon I said never again will touch doors or locks in this cars. owner should do it himself to see spanish way of engineering.
