I had the same experience with the Monsters, Inc. show at Disney World. They asked if anyone in the audience was named Mike (a la Mike Wazowski) and when I was foolish enough to raise my hand, I got the "and this Mike loves to dance!" I immediately jumped out of my seat and busted some moves. Later in the show, they found it was another attendee's birthday so they gave her the gift "of dance," and the camera cut back to me, so I immediately hopped back out of my seat and did the same dance as before. We had a good laugh about it when the show was over, but that night, maybe like 6 hours later, we were waiting in line for a roller coaster in a different part of the park (Frontierland instead of Tomorrowland), and I hear someone yell "Hey Mike!" I turn and I kid you not a little boy, maybe 7 years old, starts doing my dance from the show! I immediately join him and he got a huge laugh out it. Closest I'll ever come to being a celebrity, but dang if it doesn't still warm my heart almost ten years later.

I have an assertive “sorry, I don’t trade seats” ready on the tongue. If they push further, I’ll go with an explanation that will either confuse them or make them think I’m crazy; that them asking creates an additional timeline, one where we switch, one where we don’t, and I trust that I choose correctly when I booked the flight and nothing terrible happens if I stay in the original seat, but if we switch all bets are off.

I had to ask for seat change once, and I honestly hated doing it. Our original flight got canceled, so they put us on a new flight where me and my daughter both had middle seats. She was only 6 years old and scared to sit by herself, so I pled to the 2 rows (3 seats each) if I could get a swap. 3 out of the 4 didn't even acknowledge me, and the other wanted to sit close to his wife. It was the most awkward and uncomfortable flight experience and the most annoying part for me was that it wasn't anything that I could've done differently. Its not like I was slow to buy tickets, we were originally going to sit together. And now watching this segment, I realize the people on the plane probably thought I was a jerk for even asking.

I'm in a wheelchair and play sports with other wheelchair folks. There's a lot of fist bumps amongst ourselves. We still get one arm hugs from standing folk tho. So it's only half an escape for Jason.
