Dull interior? In my opinion the interior in the golf 7r just as about the same. I kinda like the leon cupra interior more because of the positioning of the infotainment screen.

We just got a mk2 cupra 240 recently, mapped it to a 300 and the car is moving away from the new s3s and golf r's love the look on their faces ! Im dreaming of a 290 with a few bits!

Yes i know what you mean, I drove the golf r and cupra back to back, so different. Golf was far more refined, quicker off the mark and well finished inside but a little too predictable on the road and not as engaging to drive. Im thinking APR stage 1 should see about 350bhp then some uprated bushes and mounts :-D. Ive subscribed, your content is great keep up the good work mate :-)

I actually work for SEAT Lebanon, loved the video & I've just subscribed! Had the standard Cupra 280 with the DSG for a weekend, can't praise it enough! This on the other hand, is such a well sorted killer package! The 280 in stock mode is genuinely quick, can imagine what an additional 120 BHP & 142 Nm of Torque are like! Great review again.

@@SpoolmeUp712 thanks man. Went to the dealership to say i'd put in deposit tomorrow, but while on the test drive, when i went over 4000rpms two messages came up. One for the start/stop, which usually mean that the ECU has disabled it because it has detected an engine fault. The second one was the EPC which in some cases might be the turbo actuator. Shocked to see the guy with a smile on his face while i was on about the deposit! He never brought that up. Unless they don't know about it and the previous owner just wanted to get rid of it. Sorry for the long reply. 😅

hmmmm good question....the rs3 was quicker on the launch but by 2nd gear the Cupra takes over....I was impressed with the chassis control on the Cupra for a fwd...the Cupra owner is now going 4wd as he feels he's at the limit with it power wise through the front..the rs3 felt like it had more torque even though it didn't.the Cupra felt more responsive steering wise....still it's a tough one to decide between the two....probably the rs3 but only because it would drive better in the wet..

totally agree with the interior comments, I nearly bought a 300bhp Leon mk2 it was just interior that put me off, u don't think the Spanish like a nice leather interior

I recon it's VW holding back, not letting Seat put an interior that would rival the Golf, their prestige hatchback. I've noticed VW do this with engines too. The biggest, nicest engines all go to Audi and VW, while the other brands VW owns (Seat, Skoda) get scaled down versions. Tbh I'm surprised VW even allowed a Seat to have a 300hp motor!

Basically getting the good bits from a S3/golf R with the gearbox and engine for alot less money. Imagine going up against a Golf R in this 400bhp leon, when you leave it in the rear view mirror suddenly the plain interior doesnt matter so much :)

lapamful Problem with the Golf R is that it has too little power to warrent the 4wd system in standard form. 90% of the time its a FWD car under normal driving and your just carring all the extra weight for no reason. Ive seen the track battle, while close the cupra wins because it doesnt have to lug around the extra weight the 4wd creates, proof at that power level you dont need it.

Nice video, stumbled across it as my mates just put an order down for a 290 black edition, so was having a look at reviews. It seems someone loaned you the car for the test? don't suppose that person is in the Bristol area? Reason I ask is a few months back I had a very similar looking one come charging up behind me, fair to say I was shocked at how it went, that's coming from something that isn't dissimilar power wise.

On this car it work's very well,the diff can transfer the power to either front wheel eliminating torque steer and reducing understeer...great car mate
