Seatbelt cameras coming to NSW from July 1

The New South Wales government has announced existing mobile phone detection cameras will be used to detect any motorist or passenger not wearing a seatbelt.
There has been 150 fatalities on New South Wales roads directly attributable to not wearing a seatbelt since 2019.
It has been a legal requirement in New South Wales to wear a seat belt for more than 50 years.
Revenue raised from the initiative will go back into road-safety measures.
The measure will take effect from July 1.

We have these in Tasmania, they are mounted on trailers. The photos they made public when the cameras launced show they can see through some clothing, its a major invasion of privacy and the mobile phone detection has had resulted in multiple false detections. Quite a few reports of these trailers catching fire lately, must have faulty battery packs, definatly not motorists sick of the invsion on privacy.

In Victoria if you buy a new car, you have to have a driver facing camera in the car. So they don't even need to get out of the car.

I don't understand why someone wouldn't wear a seatbelt. My car constantly makes noises and has blinking lights that are annoying as hell. Secondly, I always wear it. People who claim it doesn't work are simply not aware of its importance. Even professional race car drivers wear seatbelts. It's just foolish not to wear one. For an example of how seatbelts are important, imagine you're driving and suddenly a car cuts in front of you, causing you to brake hard. Without a seatbelt, you could be thrown forward, risking serious injury or even worse. Seatbelts keep you securely in place during such unexpected situations, significantly reducing the chances of harm.

how would you and this automated camera system treat someone like me. I was born with a deformity of the neck and upper spinal cord. I carry a medical certificate that exempts me from wearing a seatbelt as per the requirements in the road safety act 2003.
