Thank you Dr. Cutbirth for your amazing lecture and helpful tips. I had a question regarding the polishing direction vs cutting direction for using the 12 fluted carbide. Can you elaborate on how to determine the direction? Thank you!

Are these emax monolithic veneers? What different kind of material do you use for veneers? Do you ever use zirconia veneers?
@centerforard
@centerforard Жыл бұрын
For the past several years I have used lithium disilicate (e-max) veneers exclusively. I do not use zirconia for veneers. I use zirconia for fixed bridge frameworks. I rarely use zirconia for crowns. I prefer gold crowns or onlays for second molars. Take your practice to the Top Tier. Hi Dr.Cutbirth, Thank you for sharing these great videos. May I know the rationale behind not curing the composite restoration( as explained at 8:45)? Will there be any problem if it's cured first before cementing the veneers? Many thanks.

Great tips, thank you. I'm curious about using glycerin, which I notice you're not using here... would that solve the potential leakage problem if we prefer to wipe away excess resin cement prior to light curing?

Absolutely do not wipe excess cement away prior to initial light curing. This is true with veneers or crowns.

I do not cure anything until the veneer is seated.because I do not want any cured primer/adhesive thickness affecting the seating of the veneer. You mentioned not to wipe off the excess cement until the initial cure but then you wiped it off on the lingual to make sure you had correct placement. Did you mean don’t wipe the facial and just wipe the lingual before initial cure?

When you press the veneer to place again after removing a bit of the excess from the palatal, it presses a bit of excess out the palatal so there is still excess cement. Doc, so the margin of that veneer on the lateral that lost the class III filling is in the resin? If a patient has class III existing restorations (intact/sound), do you leave the margin of the veneers in that resin or are you removing them?
@centerforard
@centerforard 3 жыл бұрын
If the composite filling is recently placed and sound, with no leakage, I leave the filling as is. If there is staining or leakage, I often wait until I am seating the veneer to replace it. If there is a composite filling in the tooth that is being veneered and you place provisional veneers with adhesive (unfilled resin) on the composite, the provisional may stick to the composite when you remove the provisional and you may have to reprep that part of the tooth when you seat the veneer. I have a question. I have gotten my 4 wisdom teeth out to get Invisaligns to correct a very crooked upper tooth (nr.10) thats behind the lower row. My 2 middle upper teeth (nr.8&9) are very big and i wonder if veneers might be a good thing after getting the teeth corrected. My worry is that i have had one of my front teeth chipped and every time it was fixed with a modelling filler, the filler broken off again after a few months. can this happen to Veneers too? Thank you very much.
@centerforard
@centerforard 3 жыл бұрын
Veneers are terrific and, if placed with the technique I am teaching, very strong - as strong as natural teeth. It is important that most people wear a nightguard while sleeping to protect the teeth from chipping and wear (bruxism). It is also important not to bite anything harder than a soft sandwich with your front teeth. This applies to natural teeth or teeth that have not been veneered. The front tooth angle is not good for biting hard things. Watch my DM video, "How to Keep Your Teeth for a Lifetime."

Hi Dr. Cutbirth, is it mandatory to put adhesive on veneer before applying composite resin? Or is this step needed because silane is not applied? Thank you very much for the video and information.
@centerforard
@centerforard 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you must apply primer/adhesive to the tooth side of the veneer and the prepared tooth. Be sure to blow off the primer/adhesive so nothing "wiggles." Do not cure the primer/adhesive until the veneer is seated, just like the videos. Silane is not needed.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. If you are placing a direct composite, you cure the primer/adhasive prior to placing the filled resin. Yes, although I recommend all patients, even with natural teeth, do not bite anything harder than a sandwich with their front teeth.
