As a novice at fly fishing, although constantly devouring books, I feel like I learn more from your videos and commentary. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make these videos. I'm hoping one day you might make one explaining about the types of leaders, tippets, knots you use and choice of flies for differing conditions and times of the year, and also perhaps some tips about how to wade safely, which is something I lack confidence in.

Davie, what a start to the day Thank you for explaining and showing me how you're starting the setup ( I am stealing with my eyes ) And how successful you are , the trout must fear Davie .

Good to see you connecting with a couple of seatrout, it’s a shame they are so scarce these days, the small seatrout are called Herling in Cumbria. I look forward to seeing part 2 of your day out.

Also Davie, I hear you say your waders have a slow leak. When you get home, turn them inside out and locate the hole. You can seal it with uv resin flex. Apply a few thin layers. It will work. I promise.

Hey Davie, nice day out...I have a tip for you and your subscribers on landing fish. Instead of putting hands inside landing net...grab fish from outside the net...it gives a better grip on fish and stops hands from any damage to the fish. Give it a shot...it works pretty well.

davie could you tell me which part of the doon river you are and how to get there and most importantly where to buy the permit video as always a masterpiece greetings robert

Hi Robert, They don't sell day tickets on the beat I fish as it's a small syndicate that runs it..There's a few clubs though that you could join..Drumgrange and Keirs up at Dalmellington, Patna AC, Dalrymple AC and Ayr AC have some really nice water that's hardly fished for trout and there's just as many or even more than the beat I fish..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie

These videos bring enjoyment to many. Stuck here after injury at least I can watch and enjoy the fishing. Hopefully will get out before end of season. Thanks, Davie.

Davie ,are you inclined to use a brown fly at this time of year. ?
@augustonthefly Жыл бұрын
How deep are these runs? I see your leader is like 15' long. How does it work in relation to the depth of the runs? I'm an pike/musky fly guy so I literally am baffled on this. Lol Thanks Davie.

Hi @augustonthefly, The main taper of the cast is for fishing a single dry fly but by adding on a small length of tippet to hang a nymph off the dry allows me to fish the faster water as well the dry..Most that know of this call it a dry dropper and it's very popular with many anglers..I can understand why you think it's weird though as you can see in the video it works fine.. All the very best Davie

@@DavieMcPhail oh I mean "weird" as in I can't wrap my head around a 12 foot leader in 4 feet of water is what I mean. I would think you get snagged. You use the middle fly weighted and a weightless point? I've literally never done this kind of stuff. Lol.
