Thanks for doing this Zach! I got both parts in my feed right away. You know what a fan I am of documenting NW music history, so I was incredibly pleased to see you'd finished this project. Maybe more? Dennis White.

Zach, am enjoying what i am seeing, but couple of notes, when you are introducing the speakers, say "Kurt Bloch" someone from outside the Seattle scene, for the most part, won't have a clue who they are, or why you opted to interview them, the bar with their name could be "Kurt Bloch-Fastbacks" (plus some other identifiers), just saying, also the audio could have been done with lavalier mics, unless there was a technical reason you didn't, even your own bits, sitting in the chair should have cleaner, sharper audio,, just to help some of us "oldster" who've been exposed to years and years of LOUD music and have lost 50% of our hearing, or have tinnitus to be able to hear a tad easier/better. But am enjoying this so far (don't mean to be picky,, but a lot of the folks who will be seeing this have audio backgrounds. cheers!

Loud music, working steel industry, welding , riding two strokes, houses, loud caaars, cars for those non speech impediment types. People don't realize how it pisses others off when having to repeat everything they say . When in a group conversation I some just sit there mouth shut and tune out even when having critical info that would greatly benefit all! Sad. Thank you dearly for this video and reminding all of the unaknowlaged rockstars that only exist in our minds and hearts and how fame and fortune was not a goal or even an option ! So many jams so many compositions that will never be heard again or heard period !!! Love , david

i know everyone has their own genesis story regarding the history of seattle rock music, or even one era of it. i rememver tomata du plenty in da whizz kidz and the screamers, but cannot place him at the beginning of anything. also, roosevelt high school has a long history of notable musicians, and the basnight period deserves all the credit it is given, but preceding them at roosevelt was an equally significant base of musicians who did basically the same theing and more. gary minkler and richard riggins, for example, were renting halls and producing shows with a revolving cast of guest acts since 1971, and then there was the shoreline group, which included jeff simmons, (mothers of invention, tiny tony and the dynamics) who band easy chair included roosevelt student phil kirby. before them, dances were put on by the wailers and other bands at the spanish castle. and lts not forget the late george shangro, one of seattle most revered classical musicians, and why no mention of me taylor, the music teacher at roosevelt who taught and insired so many students who went on to make careers of playing music. then we can go way back to judy collins, quincy, jones, ray charles..etc. all these artists had their impact on seattle musicians who flourished from 1975-1985. bit its all about finding a starting point, and focusing on a narrow group that emerged in the mid seventies. im sure the second part will have a focus on roger husbands, who turned the fruitland famine band into the enemy and opened seattles first punk venue, the bird. but what about the evolution of the rainbow, the premier venue for bar bands in the early seventies that started hiring original acts that emerged during the puck era such as red dress and went on to be the first significant bar that brought in national acts along with local mainstays such as annie rose and the thrilers, lance romance, and the dynamic logs. what became the seattle music scene from 1975-85 had many beginnings with innovators in all genres. i have only cited a fraction of what was going on in seattle at the time.

Thank you for your feedback. My focus was looking back from Deep Six, with the guiding question: what all led to this? In addition Seattle Syndrome and how varied that was which then became narrow in time. This isn’t the final version and some people have come out to me asking about interviews. If you live in Seattle and are interested in doing an interview I can arrange for that during my next trip.
