Watch the Seattle walking tour video that I uploaded before this one where the walk begins at Westlake Center in Downtown Seattle and ends at Chophouse Row in Capitol Hill: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zmrdeap5bah4j9Esi=sa3Gzh1Apdyh_Bi0

Thanks for the walk. I don't go to Capitol Hill anymore but I have to check out Phnom Penh - I love Cambodian food. Didn't know it was there and can't wait to go. Looks delish!

13,600 steps is a long walk. Nice celebratory lunch at the end, you deserved it. That was a great "9/2024 Time Stamp" walk of 12th Ave into the Little Saigon neighborhood and down Jackson St past the Arsoned Viet Wah. Hopefully something nice will be there to replace it. The resolution setting was great. The Seattle U Campus walk was an Oasis between Capitol Hill & the CID. People will notice you walking around with a camera so glad you didn't walk thru the High Drama Spot of 12th & King St for your Safety. Have you been by "Hoa Mai Park" on King St, across from Lam's Seafood? It was proposed in the late 70's to make a Park for the Little Saigon neighborhood since the Vietnamese were starting businesses there and improving it. The Yellow Strip mall at 28:00 is a good example - Ding How Center was built in 1983 and the Chinatown International District was happy to see that part of Jackson cleaning up and improving. In 2017 Stupid Seattle Leadership allowed the 75 bed DESC Navigation Center on 12th & Weller despite the neighborhood's objections - which destroyed neighborhood businesses there. Then Silly Stupid Seattle decided to construct the Park they promised in the 70's, 45 years later for 2024 completion. All they did was make a Brand New Park for the Homeless and Addicts to hang out away from Public eyes. Kind of Ironic this Park just got built in the Center of the proposed CID SODA - "Stay Out of Drug Area". How do you kick people out of a Public Park without violating their rights? The neighborhood would have been better served placing a Commercial building there than a Public Park. Even when the DESC Navigation Center lease expires Jan 2025, there will still be a Strong Homeless and Addict presence in the neighborhood because - " You build it, they will come". Apologies, I remember the CID from the 60's and wish to see it THRIVE. With $5/hour parking meters in the CID, the Pacific Rim Center is a hidden gem with 2 hrs free parking. Joyale is my go-to Dim Sum and Chinese family dinner spot due to good food (Owners ran Joy Palace on MLK) and easy parking for guests. Great video, appreciate your channel a lot.

Seattle's Ding How Center was built in 1991 for $10 Million. The Little Saigon neighborhood was showing great potential at the Time. It was safe and clean. The 1983 date was for a Ding How Center in San Antonio.

@@hillyseattlenarrowstreets6087 Thanks for your comment. You share helpful info, always. I’ve not visited the park across from Lam’s Seafood. I’ve driven by it many times and would want to film there but I’m not sure sure if it’s worth my health and safety. It looks active each and every time I drive by. Perhaps someday.

I guess cleaning up that corner didn't last too long. What good is the cop car sitting there? So sorry for the people trying to make a business there when people are afraid to go near.

Yes. Visited Seattle back in 2013 on the 40th anniversary of his passing. Went to Chinatown the next day and sat in Hing Hay Park not knowing the Tai Tung restaurant was across the street. So pissed off. Thankfully didn't make the same mistake when I returned a few years later. Lao Ocean helps me relive the visit. 👍

In ASEAN countries, Chinatown is very busy and crowded. The Chinese are everywhere in every corner of the place. But the atmosphere in Seattle is quite different and strange. Many businesses are closed and most of the visitors are not Chinese
