Employers everywhere are hiring, and yet these people still can't find a job. Well, that was never the issue, they can't hold a job. Most of them are where they are because they're addicts. Here's the progression. They can't hold a job because of their addiction, and because they can't hold a job, they also can't pay rent, and they end up homeless. This whole narrative about affordable housing is just a lie to excuse the homeless problem here. If I couldn't afford housing here, I would move elsewhere, it's that simple. I sure as hell wouldn't live on the streets, and no one capable of a choice would.

Once I did find a job, I had to leave at 10pm to get the three buses to arrive at 6am to start work, after a short amount of time I was able to rent a bed in a clean and sober house...after two years I was able to save enough for a apartment, I am now in that same apartment........So no matter what you may think, there is a need for places such as this.

NYC, Seattle, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, San Jose, Honolulu and San Francisco are constantly on the news for their high rates of homelessness: what's the end game here? For one, there needs to be more oversight for funding allocated to addressing homelessness in the first place. A large chunk of these nonprofits that receive local/federal funding, are a HUGE part of the problem.: the people who want to get off the streets, can't. They give them just enough resources/information to check off a box, but not a real ladder to escape chronic homelessness/drug addiction.

why not just sanction and build one huge shelter outside the city with every necessity from food clothes, shower, to job resources, mental health counseling, drug abuse treatment etc. i’m talking acres of indoor outdoor mats, beds tents for the ones who are chronic homeless and for those who just fell on hard times and don’t want to sleep outside. This would draw all the homeless from downtown seattle and other areas where crime and drug abuse inside the city is destroying property and business. i seen it done on a smaller scale in Denver. There was this catholic church in denver that had a layout for the homeless so emaculate they couldn’t refuse. it was a day shelter, but i remember homeless people in flocks going all the way from downtown to 10th and Osage stop and walking the rest of the way for the amazing breakfast 🥞 (stars bucks coffee btw👀) showers toiletries sack lunches and clothing! downtown would be quiet until the time that place closed, unfortunately it was only 6am to 12pm but it worked. they also would have free haircuts on every other Friday and it made the homeless men really clean up. so just think if seattle and surrounding areas funded this and applied all there donations and resources for the homeless to this one mega shelter area how it would eradicate the homeless population and situations in the inner city. Homeless or not, drug addict or not, you can’t turn down a good thing and this catholic shelter in Denver was just that! i remember hearing about it and thinking this guy is just high or lying and i remember him getting me up and going there and oh boy this place was far but it was like some hidden treasure island. amd word of mouth spread and more and more came. If Seattle does the same it will work if you work it. i seen it with my own eyes but it has to be a collaborative effort.
