Douglas Ebersole, Mike Young, and Woody Alpern will lead you through the basics of rebreather diving. You'll get to learn:
-How it works using a KISS Orca Spirit Rebreather
-Benefits & Science of rebreather diving
-Some of the new CCR units and inventions KISS Rebreathers is working on right now
Woody Alpern is an SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer, a dive instructor under IANTD and PADI for the KISS ORCA Spirit Rebreather, an HSA Instructor, a Trimix certified rebreather diver, one of the staff divers at the Georgia Aquarium, and leads dive trips to exotic destinations for SeaVentures. Mike Young is co-owner of the popular rebreather brand KISS Rebreathers and a world-renowned cave diver. Mike’s desire for diving and reaching areas unseen has led him to custom build many of his own products. Using his background in engineering and manufacturing, he has developed the KISS Orca Spirit, KISS Spirit LTE, GEM Sidekick SCR and GS CCR. Mike is a member of the Advance Diver Magazine Exploration Team, as well as the US Deep Caving Team.

Woody seems to be one of the coolest teachers out there. Same for Doug and Mike, it's so good to have these legends on KZbin, promoting cave diving as a hobby. Man, what a time to be alive.

Thank you Woody, Dug and Mike for a great educational session!! I’m advanced open water diver, but it’s been about close to a decade since the last time I dove… and now because your channel “DIVE TALK” is so interesting to watch, I became interested in rebreather. No bubbles 🫧 means quiet, and now I feel so much better about the system after I watched this video, I would love to take a course of KISS rebreather certification!! I have one question. 1) how long does this cylinder of scrubs last? Again, thank you all for this video!

It sounds complex. This mixture and having to adjust it as you go down. Doesn't your computer do that? Good stuff.

There are some rebreathers that have computer controlled O2 valves, but the point of KISS rebreathers is simplicity. Not necessarily being the simplest to use in normal operation, but being the simplest in terms of reducing extra complication that could create strange failures that aren’t induced by the user.

Imagine NOT being scared to dive into caves and over 300 ft deep but being so scared of a cold (you have more of a chance having a diving accident than you do of dying of COV) that you won't meet in person. Pretty crazy.

They take many precautions and do lots of preparation to be safe diving. Doing zoom meetings is the same thing. Besides it's nicer doing this all from the comfort of your own home.

So I have to say, I do not think I want my dive instructor who is teaching me how to protect my life underwater, to be so vane that he has to wear a silly shark hat because he is bald. BUT to each his own.

hi NoMoreMr.NiceGuy, Woody likes to have fun and make his classes interesting, and at the same time he is a superior dive instructor with many years of experience that he is eager to share with his students. We are thankful to have an instructor on staff with us that shows his level of care and thoroughness while also injecting a few smiles and jokes along the way.

Whomever you are before you criticize/insult someone know something about the person. It is obvious you know nothing about Woody and his affinity to acquire and wear out of this world hats, beanies and the such. Mr. Petty your pettiness is unfounded, and IMHO suspect. Woody is one of the most humble people out there cave diving and teaching. Basing your opinion or judging someone solely on their fashion choices is such a clichéd human flaw it makes you look hopelessly basic. In the future why not keep your poisoned attitudes and words in yourself because your statement has not benefitted or hurt anyone least of all I suspect Woody.

@@SeaVenturesATL I would be honored to have you as my dive instructor. Alot of people agree with me, and think you're an amazing guy who has such positive energy. Screw op, he's just a bitter pos who is miserable at life and wants to spread his toxicity wherever he lingers. You on the other hand are passionate and fun loving ❤. I wish you were my instructor and then we could dive and finally find those aliens 👽 lol.
