I think part 1 is going to have everyone die except a few, including Dr Strange, and then he'll bring everyone back when he reverses time either at the very end of the movie or the beginning of the next one. A few characters dying permanently the 2nd time around would have a lasting impact, and it'd be something to have Iron Man live through the 1st movie but die in part 2 in order to defeat Thanos. As much as I like Tony Stark, him and/or Captain America dying could shift focus towards Peter Parker and other popular characters.
