This is a horrible set of arguments, which the first guy thankfully anticipated. Some of the premises where good, such as the possible benefits concerning climate change and healthcare, but he did not connect it to anything so this entire thing was just embarrassing.

If these students are an example of our next generation of elites, god help us. Our nation is currently experiencing both foreign and domestic existential treats from multiple sources. Britain and the West are slowly losing stature on the global stage in every crucial metric used to determine success and these are representative of the, ‘intellectuals’, attending our most prestigious universities. The ones my young grandchild will possibly rely on to hold positions of authority throughout our society. I’m an aging blue collar worker concerned about the direction our civilisation is heading, so I decided to watch this debate. Not because I’m worried that A.I. is the greatest threat we face. On the scheme of things, I think this topic is one of the least important our generation is currently facing. After feeling abandoned due to the actions taken by the traitorous elites leading our nation, I’m grasping for any possible evidence that our future generation of elites could provide a level of competence, awareness and intellectual gravitas to re-install a level confidence in the general public. Evidence that future leaders could save our culture. After watching this debate I’ve come to the conclusion, Christ!, we’re in deep trouble.

I honeslty appreciate your thoughtful reflections on the debate, and I understand your concerns about the direction our society is heading. It's natural to feel uneasy about the future, especially when considering the individuals who will eventually hold positions of authority. While the debate may have left you with a sense of deep concern, it's crucial to remember that such discussions often showcase diverse perspectives. The views expressed by these students may not necessarily represent the entirety of our next generation of leaders. It's essential to engage with a broader spectrum of voices and opinions to gain a more comprehensive understanding. The challenges we face, both domestically and internationally, are undoubtedly significant. However, it's also worth exploring other avenues where the younger generation is actively contributing to positive change and progress. By encouraging open dialogue and fostering connections across generations, we can collectively work towards a more promising future. Your concerns are valid, and it's essential to continue seeking evidence of competence and awareness in future leaders. Let's remain optimistic about the potential for positive shifts in our society and collaborate to address the challenges at hand.

_"on the scheme of things, I think this topic is one of the least important our generation is currently facing"_ 🤦 Do you not comprehend what an "existential threat" denotes? Existential as in poof... there goes our fuckin species. Hopefully it is simply a matter of not being well versed on the matter. In Every recent survey of the top minds in the AI field, even of the ones who are supposedly "optimistic," has resulted in the *majority* classifying AI & a fast approaching AGI(Artificial General Intelligence) & ASI(Artificial Super Intelligence) as posing at *minimum* a 10% threat (the avg consensus was far higher) to our existence and more than half predicting AGI coming of age in the next 20 yrs. If someone were to tell you the flight you are about to take has a 10% chance of crashing, I am certain you would not board that plane. With AI, that 10% is the damn optimistic end of the spectrum. Yes of course even experts can be wrong, everything in the near future could be peaches & cream, but perhaps some of us are being wise in heeding their warnings & are right to worry considering the alternative... what if they are correct. As an American, this has been the first instance in my life where I saw leaders of an industry attending a congressional hearing... where they themselves essentially begged to be regulated. That speaks volumes & tells you where we stand with the threat. (Sam Altman, other AI experts testimony in Congress) Even if the existential threat is not realized, consider that most jobs will be automated in the near, not distant, future... ushering a change unlike any in human history. This is not the fuckin printing press, or the steam engine. For the first time in history, we will cease to be the most intelligent beings on the planet. Now consider how we treat apes & dolphins, arguably the current 2nd most intelligent species. How any of this results in the subject matter being "least important" is beyond me... perhaps as an old head your myopic view is a result of being stuck in "yesteryear." The future of AI & its effects will have a far bigger impact on your grandkids' futures than anything you currently believe. Where I do agree in respect to our "elites" is that most of them are barely cognizant of this threat. As an American, my current Prez appears to suffer from some form of dementia, unaware of where he is half the time... my former Prez is a narcissistic orange imbecile whose so thin skinned, he cannot accept losing the 2020 election. All the while, one side of our congressional leaders are too inept to push the former to step aside, allowing another to run. The other side, too cowardous to even minutely criticize the latter who is facing 90+ indictments but who will hopefully soon be donning an orange jumpsuit to match his complexion. Good times!

@LuTubuMeu Is that response written by AI?

@@ManicMindTrick ManicMindTrick, Is your response due to the fact I'm a blue collar worker and I managed to compile a coherent comment? I must admit however, there were some grammar mistakes in my previous comment. So in answer to your question, No, A.I. didn't write the previous comment. I'm just a, 'commoner', from a poor family in a working class town. In fact, we were that impoverished, each winter we'd gather around a candle to keep warm.....and when it was really cold, we'd light it. Some working class humour to prove I'm not A.I.

Artificial Intelligence is collections of human intelligence, therefore human can use AI in many different ways, for example develop more Advanced tools specifically on location or even new kind of jobs given to specific humans (8 billion people on earth) more jobs more production, more production more foods for humans then more possibilities no himan will hungry.
