love your channel; i just saw ur video best and worst ways to redeem amex points and you mentioned about amex gold not being a good card for cashback focused users. i am trying to shift away from cashback as i've been told there is more value to accruing miles with my purchases, and was thinking to start dabbling in the amex MR space but now i am having doubts (again)...this decision for my next card is really having me on analysis paralysis and i have bigger expenses asap...i do like the option to get my new amex cc card number right away if approved so i can make purchases towards SUB already..pls share more videos on award travel - maybe make a series by continent (i.e. US to Europe, US to Asia, etc)

To answer your question, yes, please try to do more videos on the steps to finding and redeeming miles and points. I’m sitting on 500,000 points and I’m afraid that I’m not going to redeem at their highest value. Would be helpful to see more instruction on how to best redeem those.

I t would be awesome if you make videos and and in which video talk about a certain miles (i.e. AA or united or VA or BA...) and specify what is the best rout to book a flight for that mile for both international or domestic. tnx again for your awesome simple videos.

Does anybody know how to change a paid stay for a reward night with HHonors? I booked a standard room for 3 nights at Athens Greece to hold the availability thinking that I could come back ans easily change it to the 50k redemption once I had the points but it turns out that I can only cancel and rebook but standard category is no longer available. Any suggestions?

I would love to see detailed strategies for award redemptions for American Airlines and Delta... Those are two awards programs where I think there are lots of ways to get points, either through alot of signup bonuses, and also as the large US carriers for collecting points in two of the alliances, but whats the best way to get value from miles in these carriers? Also given that there are ways to also have alot of gift cards in American and Delta from airline incidental credits, what strategies would you recommend for using gift cards vs. using miles?

Quick answer: a) GC for domestic (if no Visa Infinite discount portal) and economy flights (think good deals) b) Points for award travel (to me anyways)

You can't transfer Delta points to Korean Air. That's not how points work. You can book Korean Air flights on DL but not pool them the way you're proposing. Generally, the only points that can transfer are: banks and Marriott: a) Banks = Chase, Amex, Citi, CO b) Marriott = transfer 3:1 with 5k boost for every 60k transferred (i.e., 60k Bonvoy = 25k airline)

I don't care about exotic locations or business/first class travel. For me the Southwest/Chase model is the best. I know how to do it and what to expect. Even when I try to understand the basics of alliances, a lot of it still doesn't make sense. In my head Star Alliance means I can go on any of the Star Alliance partners' websites and book flights for any of the other partners. But that doesn't work that way does it (at least not well)? Every site is different, some sites show some stuff and not the other. It's sometimes cheaper to go through partner A to book on B then to book on B directly. Sometimes you have to find a flight on partner C's website, but you have to call in to book. Basically it's a never-ending cluster, and other than maintaining notes from endless blog posts, I don't know how people know these things. Certainly I haven't come across a chart that outlines all of this in simple terms. I am not even talking about re-positioning and other such concepts that are non-starter for me at my age.
